History
The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) began offering girls’ flag football as a competitive sport in 2019.
DeKalb County School District got into play in 2020 as three teams opted to play despite the Coivd-19 Pandemic with Dunwoody, Lakeside and McNair making history as the inaugural teams from DeKalb.
Teams get the opportunity to play in Area play to qualify for the state playoffs. The championship game is played during the high school state football championship weekend at Georgia State University’s Center Parc Stadium.
McNair (3-3) and Dunwoody (4-5) earned playoff berths in their first season as the No. 3 and No. 4 seed, respectively, from Area 5 – Division 1 behind Pace and Decatur.
