The Lakeside Lady Vikings improved to 7-5 on the season with wins over Lithonia (14-0) and Cross Keys (22-0) in girls’ flag football action at Hallford Stadium earlier this week.

Lakeside (7-5, 6-3) opened the night with a 14-0 win over the Lithonia Lady Bulldogs (5-8, 5-4) in Area 5-D2 play using a pair of third quarter touchdowns to pave the way.

The game went to the half knotted at 0-0. Coming out of the half Lithonia forced a Lakeside punt but on the first play Leia Johnson stepped in front of a pass for a 45-yard pick-six to give the Vikings the lead with eight minutes to play. Johnson ran in the one-point conversion to make it 7-0.

Mia Beswick intercepted another Lithonia pass on the first play after Lakeside’s pick six and returned it to the Lithonia 13 to set up a first and goal. The Vikings wasted little time as Rosalynn Turner threw over the middle to Maya Romanelli in the end zone to the touchdown. Johnson again added the extra-point run to make it 14-0 with 1:44 left in the third quarter.

Neither team threatened the rest of the way and the Vikings got the ball with 2:23 to play and ran out the clock.

Lakeside and Cross Keys (0-7) wrapped up the night in the final game of the night with the Vikings coming away with a 22-0 win to end the night.

The first score of the game came early in the second quarter after the Vikings stopped the Indians on a fourth down from the Cross Keys 11. It took just one play for Lakeside to take the lead as Rosalynn Turner got her second touchdown pass of the night connecting with Leia Johnson for an 11-yard scoring pass. The point after failed and Lakeside led 6-0.

A short punt put Lakeside at the Cross Keys 26 with two minutes to play in the first half. Danna Almario threw to Mariela Gomez for 21 yards to the Cross Keys five to set up the second score of the game. Almario took the ball in on the next play. Turner then threw to Romanelli for the three-point conversion to make it 15-0 heading to the half.

The score remained 15-0 until the fourth quarter when Johnson got her second pick-six of the night with 8:28 to play. Sofia George ran in the one-point conversion to make the final of 22-0.

Cross Keys Naomi Santiago ran for 33 yards on 13 carries with a long of 17 in the game.

The Tucker Lady Tigers scored on the first drive of the game and never looked back on the way to a 39-0 win over the Cross Keys Lady Indians in the sandwich game at Hallford.

Tucker drove the field on big runs of 22 and 19 yards by Phaith Nash to set up the first score on a 12-yard run by Maliyah Davis with 6:51 left in the first quarter. The point after attempt failed to keep the opening lead at 6-0.

A short punt gave the Tigers the football at the Indians’ 19 and Tucker fed Nijah Lewis on three straight plays as she ran for eight, nine and two yards to get into the end zone with 2:15 left in the quarter. Ayanna Thomas ran in the point after to make it 13-0.

Christine Jackson got the Tigers the football back with an interception to set up Tucker at the Cross Keys five-yard line. Nash needed just on run to go the five yards for the score. Tucker held a 19-0 lead after the point after failed with 9:31 left in the first half.

Tucker got the football back at the Cross Keys 16 and gave Jada Ragins three straight carries to get the touchdown on a final run of one yard. Tanyce Williams ran in the one-point conversion to make it 26-0 at the half.

Nash caught a 10-yard pass and Zuri McCalpine-Ingram ran in the one-point conversion to make it 33-0 late in the third period. Zari Strong finished off the scoring on a one-yard run.

Cross Keys got a 36-yard run from Camila Bawon down to the Tucker 24 but the Tigers defense held and Tucker ran out the clock.
