Three boys teams improve to 3-0 on the season heading into the Thanksgiving break.

Columbia, Henderson and Tucker middle school boys’ basketball teams all improved to 3-0 on the young season with big wins last Saturday heading into the Thanksgiving break.

The Columbia Eagles (3-0, 1-0) had three players score in double figures as they won their Region 4 opener 52-33 over the Chapel Hill Panthers (0-3, 0-2). Bryson Bigsby was at the top of the scoring with 22 points for Columbia followed by Jashawn Thompson with 16 and 10 more from Brandon Bigsby.

Henderson 64, Chamblee 42
The Henderson Cougars (3-0, 1-0) rolled to a 64-42 win in their Region 1 opener against the Chamblee Bulldogs (1-1, 0-1) behind three big performances. Bakari Campbell hit for 17 points while dishing out 5 assists to lead the way for Henderson. Pearce Becker netted 15 points and Zayd Muhammad chipped in 14 points and passed for 5 assists as part of three-headed monster for Henderson.

Tucker 47, Champion 38
Omari Fernandez put together a double-double to lead the Tucker Tigers (3-0, 1-0) to a non-region victory over the Champion Chargers (1-1, 1-0). Fernandez was tough on the boards grabbing 10 rebounds and scored 15 points to lead the Tigers. Jacobi Williams had 11 points and Octavius Greshem hit for 9 in the win.

Stephenson 35, Stone Mountain 33
Aaron Hunter’s outside shooting keyed a thrilling 35-33 Region 2 victory for the Stephenson Jaguars (1-2, 1-1) over the Stone Mountain Pirates (0-2, 0-1). Hunter hit three three-pointers on the way to 13 points in the game for the Jaguars. J. Thompson hit for 12 points while shooting 83 percent from the free-throw line to lead the Pirates.

Salem 41, Lithonia 24
The Salem Lions (1-1, 1-0) won their Region 3 opener 41-24 over the Lithonia Bulldogs (0-3, 0-1) with a solid team effort. Prince Hayes was the leading scorer with 13 points while Kaden Menefee chipped in 9 in the Lions’ win.

Druid Hills 45, Peachtree 23
The Druid Hills Dragons upped their record to 2-1 on the season with a 45-23 non-region victory over the Peachtree Patriots. Strong play in the paint by Michael Setrana and the outside shooting of Djimon McClendon were keys to the Dragons win.

Bethune 74, Freedom 19
Dontavious Stringfield was dominate for the Bethune Lions (1-1, 0-0) in a 74-19 non-region win over the Freedom Rams (1-2, 0-0) last weekend. Stringfield put together a 29-points, 12-rebounds double-double for the Lions while added 6 steals and 2 blocks. Rashaad Silver added 11 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals in the game and Jalen Kelly also hit for 11 points and picked up 4 steals. Freedom had 6 points from Keshawn George and Taylor Price added 4.

Cedar Grove 43, Miller Grove 32
The Cedar Grove Saints moved to 2-0 on the season with a 43-32 non-region win over the Miller Grove Wolverines (1-2, 0-1). Emanuel Green’s 21-point, 7-rebound performance was a big part of the win along with 14 points from Reginald Harris.

GIRLS RESULTS
The Miller Grove Lady Wolverines upped their season mark to 3-0 overall with a 40-10 non-region win over the Cedar Grove Lady Saints. The duo of Bailey Canty (18 points) and Kaeslyn Benjamin (15 points) were hot from the field for Miller Grove. Janecia Stroud scored seven points for the second consecutive game to lead Cedar Grove.

Stephenson 44, Stone Mountain 10
Cyncere Sims-Turner filled up the nets for 23 points to lead the Stephenson Lady Jaguars (2-1, 1-1) to a 44-10 Region 2 win over the Stone Mountain Lady Pirates (0-3, 0-1). Sarah Okorowanta added 6 points and 2 blocks to go with four points each from Kamryn Larkin and Sole Jefferson.

Champion 48, Tucker 15
A complete team effort keyed a 48-15 non-region win for the Champion Lady Chargers (2-0, 1-0) over the Tucker Lady Tigers (1-2, 1-0). Chance Alexander (8 steals, 6 rebounds), Charmaine Owens (4 assists, 5 rebounds) and Lierra Cousar (4 steals) all hit for 8 points in the game for Champion. They were joined by Lauren Chavis (7 points, 4 steals, 6 rebounds) and Jhia Primrose (6 points, 8 rebounds) in the all-around effort.

Chamblee 21, Henderson 15
The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs (2-0, 1-0) won a tough defensive battle 21-15 in a Region 1 opening win over the Henderson Lady Cougars (1-2, 0-1). Kyndall Hardaway hit for 10 points to lead Chamblee while Madeline Harron keyed the big defensive effort by Chamblee.

Salem 37, Lithonia 8
Shanya Heath fueled a 37-8 Region 3 opening win for the Salem Lady Lions (2-0, 1-0) over the Lithonia Lady Bulldogs (1-2, 0-1). Heath finished the day with 14 points.

Other scores include Freedom (2-1, 0-0) 26-23 over Bethune (0-2, 0-0) and Peachtree (2-0, 0-0) 29-18 over Druid Hills (1-2, 0-0). Azelia Shell had 12 points for Druid Hills. The Chapel Hill vs. Columbia score was not reported.
