A pair of second half touchdowns sealed a 22-0 Region 6-2A victory for the Towers Titans over the McNair Mustangs in the opening game of a doubleheader at Godfrey Stadium on Friday night.

Towers blocked a punt in the first quarter and downed the ball at the McNair 21 to set up the lone score of the first half. Trevaris Jones did the honors for the Titans covering the distance in two plays for the go-ahead score. Jones ran for 21 yards down to the three-yard line after McNair pushed them back four yards on the first play.

He would go the final three-yards on the next play to put the Titans up 6-0. The PAT was blocked by McNair.

McNair put together a nice-looking drive following Malachi Jackson’s interception moving down to the Towers 21 before Towers adided by a sack by Zandarius Washington and a false start penalty pushed the Mustangs into a fourth and 18. The big play in the drive was a 29-yard pass play from Aveon Jackson to Malachi Jackson. Towers would force McNair to turn the ball over on downs.

Towers ran out the clock on the first half to take the 6-0 lead into the half.

Towers opened the second half with the ball and drove it down for another score. Quarterback Isaiah Logan rolled left, lofted a pass over the defenders to a wide-open Elijah Hobson on the left hash. Hobson did the rest by breaking a tackle, cutting across the field and turning it upfield into the endzone. Logan then ran the two-point conversion in to make 14-0 with 8:25 left in the third quarter.

Logan would do it with his legs on the next Titans’ possession to extend the lead. Following runs of 13 and 12 yards by Patrick Crosby, Logan went the final 35 yards for the final score of the game. He then passed to Kenyon Partridge for the two-point conversion and a 22-0 lead.

McNair was forced to punt with 4:57 to play and Towers took over on their own 36. The Titans ran seven plays to run out the clock for the win.
