Chamblee upended Dunwoody 21-10 on Friday night at Hallford Stadium to bring a six-game losing streak to their Golden Spike rivals with some big plays on both sides of the football.

The last win for the Bulldogs (2-0) in the rivalry was a 28-0 victory in 2013 as the Wildcats (0-3) reeled off six consecutive victories to take a 13-9 lead in the series.

Chamblee struck first in the game as Jordan Thornton’s 35-yard run down to the one-yard line set up Curt McCorvey’s touchdown for the go-ahead score with under a minute left in the first quarter to make it a 7-0 game.

Dunwoody answered with 11:55 remaining in the first half as senior quarterback Davis Ledoyen found Connor Haynes streaking down the right side for what would be a 50-yard touchdown pass play to knot the game at 7-7.

The tie game did not last long as the Bulldogs’ Jameel Avery returned the Wildcat kickoff for a touchdown to put the Bulldogs back in front 14-7.

Cooper West pulled the Wildcats within 14-10 minutes later as he split the uprights on a field goal.

The teams finished the final nine minutes of the half without a score as the Bulldogs took the 14-10 lead into the break. That changed three-minutes into the second half when Dietrich Shugars grabbed his second interception of the game for the pick-six to extend the lead to 21-10.

Jason Lynch sealed the win with the Bulldogs fourth interception of the night with under a minute to play in the game.

Tucker 11, North Atlanta 8
A big fourth-quarter rally propelled the Tucker Tigers (2-1, 1-0) to an 11-8 victory over the North Atlanta Warriors at Grady Stadium on Friday night.

North Atlanta took an 8-0 lead in the first half and was holding it heading into the fourth quarter when the Tigers began their rally.

Amir Streeter’s touchdown pass with five minutes to play pulled the Tigers within 8-6. Tucker added the two-point conversion to knot the game at 8-8.

Tucker was driving with under a minute to play and looked to senior kicker Camden Russell to prevent overtime with three seconds to play Russell delivered the game-winning field goal for the Tigers’ win.
