The DeKalb girls’ soccer run in the state playoffs ended on Tuesday night as both Tucker and Chamblee fell in Class 5A Sweet 16 playoff matches.

The Tucker Lady Tigers (12-8-1) season ended when the Northside Patriots scored four second half goals to overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit to knock Tucker out of the Class 5A girls’ state playoffs 4-1 on Tuesday night at Adams Stadium.

Jenni McIntosh gave Tucker the 1-0 lead just 4:27 into the match as she nailed an arching shot over Northside keeper Hanna Barka into the top right corner of the goal.

Tucker keeper Kaylee Rice battled throughout the first half against the Northside pressure with nine saves, including one with just three seconds left when Northside’s Kailyn Smith made a steal and took a long shot that Rice knocked away just before the horn sounded ending the half.

Taylor Horton evened the match with 31:56 to play as she got loose in the defensive backfield and scored.

Northside continued the pressure outshooting the Tigers 13-1 in the second half. Tucker got its lone shot on goal off with 21:06 to play but Barka made the save to keep the game at 1-1.

Northside came back less than two minutes later ad Ryleigh Pigg got the ball to a streaking Smith who gave Northside the lead with a goal in the left corner with 19:16 to play.

Rice picked up two more saves to keep the game within reach until Isabella Frullaney scored twice in the final 5:29 to seal the win for Northside (12-6-1).

In other Class 5A girls’ play, the No. 10 ranked and defending state champions Chamblee Lady Bulldogs battled No. 6 McIntosh at North DeKalb Stadium on Tuesday.

McIntosh (14-3-1) scored a goal in the first half and made it stand up with a 1-0 victory over the Lady Bulldogs (9-7-3).

Class 5A boys’ second round play gets underway tonight with one home game and two away games.

The lone home game has the Tucker Tigers (7-9-2) hosting Northgate (7-9-2) at 7:30 pm at Adams Stadium.
