DeKalb County Schools has six teams vying to move into state playoff quarterfinals as they take on Sweet 16 opponents on Monday through Wednesday of next week.

Chamblee has a doubleheader of Class 5A Sweet 16 action set for Monday (4/22) at Chamblee High School beginning at 1:00 pm with the Lady Bulldogs (9-6) hosting Harris County. Chamblee advanced with a 4-1 victory over Greenbrier in the opening round and Harris County matched them with a 4-1 win over Jones County.

The Bulldogs (12-3) play in the boys’ Sweet 16 at approximately 3:00 pm against Northgate (9-6) following the girls’ match. Chamblee advanced with a first round 3-0 victory over Ware County and Northgate knocked off Ola 3-0 to move into the second round.

The Dunwoody Wildcats (11-8) travel to Evans to take on Lakeside at 12:30 pm in the Class 6A boys’ Sweet 16 round. Dunwoody beat Tift County 3-0 in a road playoff victory to move into the second round while Lakeside swept Morrow 3-0 in a home match.

The Dunwoody Lady Wildcats (10-8) head to Brunswick on Tuesday (4/23) to take on Glynn Academy at 4:00 pm in a Class 6A girls’ second round match. Dunwoody moved into the round of 16 with a 3-0 road win over Houston County and Glynn Academy swept Forest Park 5-0 at home to advance.

Class 6A boys’ play has the Lakeside Vikings (13-2) hosting Effingham County on Tuesday at DeKalb Tennis Center. Lakeside rolled 4-0 over Thomas County Central in their opening round home triumph while Effingham defeated Rockdale County 4-0 in a road contest.

Wednesday’s Class 6A girls’ play has the Lakeside Lady Vikings (14-1) traveling to College Park to take on the Woodward Lady War Eagles at 4:30 pm. Lakeside had three straight set victories in singles to defeat Lee County 3-0 at home in the opening round. Woodward opened the playoffs with a 5-0 home win over Effingham County.
