For the second consecutive season the Chamblee Bulldogs (Bullsharks) came home as the GHSA Class 4A-5A Swim and Dive state runners-up after competition at Georgia Tech earlier this week.

The Bullsharks put togethers eight top four finishes out of 12 events to tally 331 points to finished just 19 points behind Chattahoochee (350). They were led by junior Ian Combs who won the 200-yard individual medley (1:51.00) and was second in the 100-yard backstroke (50.87) to pull in 45 points for his team.

Combs teamed up with Jack Bolte, Dayon Harper and Jack McLellan for a silver medal in the 200-yard medley relay (1:34.44) and with Harper, McLellan and Juan Mariani for another silver in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:26.51).

McLellan picked up a bronze in the 100-yard freestyle (46.77) and a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.19) to add 39 points to the Bullsharks’ total.

The Bullsharks got fourth place finishes from Thomas Adam in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.30) and in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:15.59).

Druid Hills finished 27th out of 40 teams in the standings led by Gabriel Corkran who finished 13th in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.77) and 17th in the 100-yard butterfly (53.50). Phidias Brann added a 16th place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (4:56.43).

GIRLS CLASS 4A-5A
The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs settled for a second consecutive fourth-place finish in the GHSA Class 4A-5A state meet with three Top 5 finishes for 255.50 points in the meet won by Westminster (356).

Senior Lily Smith was the top finisher for Chamblee picking up a silver medal in the 100-yard backstroke (56.92) which landed 21 points for the Lady Bulldogs.

Sophomore Mena Alexandrov swam to a fourth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:11.78) and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Alexandrov, Smith, Sonia Peters and Anna Entrekin took fifth in a time of 3:42.04.

The Tucker Lady Tigers finished 21st with 33 points led by the 100-yard breaststroke duo of Hadleigh McNay (8th, 1:08.93) and Katelyn Nawyn (13th, 1:09.60). The 400-yard freestyle relay team finished 18th (4:06.13) and the 200-yard freestyle relay team finished 20th (1:48.71).

BOYS CLASS 1A-3A
The Redan Raiders finished in a tie for 29th with Washington in the GHSA Class 1A-3A state meet on the back of lone entry Phillip Doyle.

Doyle collected all 14 points for the Raiders by swimming to a ninth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.89).
