The 2024 DCSD middle school basketball season gets underway tonight with a full slate of non-region games.

The 2024 DeKalb County Middle School basketball season begins tonight with a full schedule of 10 non-region games on tap to open the season.

The Redan Raiders and Champion Lady Chargers start the quest to defend their county titles from the 2023 season. Redan hosts Tucker in a rematch of their first-round playoff game from a year ago won by the Raiders on the way to the title and a 16-1 record and a 51-46 win over Chapel Hill (14-3) in the boys’ championship.

Chapel Hill plays host to Chamblee to open the 2023 season. Semifinalist Druid Hills hosts Henderson in another boys’ opener while Bethune who fell in the semifinals to Chapel Hill travels to Cedar Grove, an Elite 8 participant a year ago.

Champion goes on the road to Miller Grove in their non-region matchup to start the year. Champion finished 15-2 on the season with its 31-22 win over Salem (16-1) as the two teams met for the second consecutive season in the girls’ final.

Salem travels to McNair for the season opener on its quest to reach the championship for a third consecutive season. Stephenson, a 2023 semifinalist on the girls’ side, opens the season hosting Sequoyah, while Chapel Hill, the other semifinalist, hosts Chamblee.

The regular season ends on Wednesday, January 24 and the 2024 County Championship begins on Saturday, January 27.
