The Tucker Tigers and the Stephenson Lady Jaguars came out on top in the fourth DeKalb County cross country meet held at Arabia Mountain High School on Tuesday (Sept. 26).

Putting five runners in the Top 10 put Tucker in the lead 28-42 over Stephenson in the team standings. Stone Mountain was third with 91 points.

Junior Abdeleselam Kerebo led the way for Tucker finishing first in 18:52.70 and senior teammate Norris Minnis (19:05.30) made it a 1-2 finish for the Tigers. Tucker senior Jacob Dayoub (22:11.70) was sixth while freshmen Braylon Allen (23:19.80) and Julian Duncan (223:22.40) were ninth and tenth, respectively.

The Jaguars put three runners in the first 10 to finish led by junior Gene Jones (20:56.50) who came in third. Sophomore Onyx Brown (21:46.90) was fifth and junior Dwayne McKinney (22:52.20) was seventh.

Redan’s Zamarvian Green (21:31.60) came in fourth and Stone Mountain’s Kendall Johnson (23:05.20) was eight to round out the first 10 finishers.

Stephenson came out on top in the girls’ race 32-44 over Southwest DeKalb while Tucker was a close third with 47 points.

The Lady Jaguars had four of the Top 10 finishers in the race led by junior Breona Issac (27:39.71) in third and sophomore Tatyana Baptiste (28:22.90) in fourth. Freshman Natasha Wedderburn (29:22.30) came home in fifth and fellow frosh runner Amaya McPherson (30:29.40) was tenth.

Southwest DeKalb was paced by Janiya McCoy (25:42.70) in second and followed Kaila Wimes (29:37.40) in seventh.

Tucker had three Top 10 finished led by overall winner Nuhamin Tegenu (25:21.70). Sophomore Andrea Akwete (30:07.20) was eighth and freshman Riley Robinson (30:12.70) was ninth.

Arabia Mountain junior Jaelyn James (29:05.50) crossed in fifth to round out the Top 10.
