It was a sweep for the Tucker Tigers boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams in the DeKalb County regular season meet at Arabia Mountain High School on Tuesday afternoon.

Tucker junior Abdeleselam Kerebo led from start to finish to lead five Tigers in the Top 10 of the boys’ 5K race being held at the Arabia Mountain High School course for the first time this fall.

Kerebo ran a time of 18:43.70 to win as Tucker accumulated 23 points to Stephenson’s 48 to capture the title. Senior teammate Norris Minnis came across in second at 19:40.90 to give the Tigers a 1-2 finish at the top.

Junior Skyler Roberts (21:01.00) was fifth and senior Simon Atiso (21:38.70) crossed the finish line in sixth. Senior Jacob Dayoub (23:09.80) was ninth to round out the Tucker scoring on the day.

Stephenson had three Top 10 finishers led by junior Gene Jones (20:49.60) in fourth followed by junior Dwayne McKinney (22:49.10) in seventh and sophomore Onyx Brown (22:51.10) in eighth.

Towers put a pair of runners in the Top 10 to finish third with 74 points as a team. Sophomore Innocent Bembetem (19:55.60) was third overall and senior Kevin Wynn (23:27.30) grabbed 10th.

GIRLS RACE
Five Top 20 finishers for the Tucker Lady Tigers (36) propelled them to the top in the girls’ race followed by Southwest DeKalb 48 and Stephenson in a close third with 49 points.

Seniors Tsega Atiso (28:26.00) and Aden Gebregergs (28:48.40) finished fourth and fifth respectively to lead the Tigers while sophomore Andrea Akwete (31:13.70) came across in tenth. Senior Yosan Mebrahtom (33:04.60) and junior Michaya Victor (33:19.40) were 15th and 17th, respectively, to seal the win.

Southwest DeKalb junior Janiya McCoy (24:54.60) led the charge for the Lady Panthers finishing first overall and junior Alicia Williams (30:40.30) was ninth and senior Kaila Wimes (32:01.00) was 11th.

Sophomore Tatyana Baptiste (29:19.80) was sixth in the race and led Stephenson as that fell just one-point behind Southwest DeKalb to finish third. Junior Kayla Wright (33:00.70) was 13th and sophomore Amiya Gardner (33:01.70) was right behind in 14th.
