The Local Initiatives Support Corporation along with the Atlanta Falcons, NFL Foundation and NFL Grassroots program approved a grant of $250,000 to help upgrade the athletic field at Stone Mountain High School.

The Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) is scheduled to present Stone Mountain High School and the DeKalb County School District with a $250,000 grant in a pre-game ceremony prior to the Stone Mountain/Redan high school football matchup at Hallford Stadium on Friday at 7:30 pm.

The matching grant was approved as part of a grassroots program through LISC provided by funding from the Atlanta Falcons, the National Football League Foundation and the NFL Grassroots Program for the completion of the artificial surface at Stone Mountain High School field.

Dale Royal, Executive Director of LISC Atlanta and his team, Jewel Williams and Dominique Ellis, will present Stone Mountain Principal Michael Costa and Athletic Director Douglas Dakin.

DeKalb County School District Board Chair, Mr. Diijon DaCosta Sr., (District 6), will receive a 5′ mock check ($250,000) on behalf of the district and will join the referees and team captains at midfield to perform the coin toss.

Other confirmed guests include Dr. Norman Sauce (DCSD Area Superintendent of High Schools), James Jackson (DCSD Director of Athletics) and Michael Harris, Manager, I Grants and Partnerships (Lead Grant Writer for the Grassroots Grant).

The Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders and Freddie the Falcon will also be on hand for the presentation.

Staples, a preferred partner and vendor with the DCSD, with Ms. Nina Salim, Marketing Coordinator (former Stone Mountain Cheerleader0, Stanley Martinez, GM -Tucker and Christopher Caruso, GM -Stonecrest Locations, created the “mock” check.).
