A 3-0 win over the Coffee Lady Trojans on Tuesday afternoon at Chamblee advanced the Lady Bulldogs into the Elite 8 of the Class 5A state tennis playoffs.

Isabelle Coursey was knotted at 1-1 in the first set with Coffee’s Gracie Morgan then reeled off 11 straight wins to seal the first point of the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles.

Chamblee’s No. 2 singles player Sophia Cheng had a bit tougher match with Coffee’s Kylie Childers having to rally from 3-4 deficits in a two sets to none victory. Cheng reeled off three straight wins to end both sets of a 6-4, 6-4 win for the second point.

Ananya Jatar and Grace Seel also put together a 2-0 win in their No. 1 doubles match with Coffee’s Caroline Allen and Emme Cole.

Allen and Cole broke Jatar’s serve to take a 2-3 lead in the first set. Jatar and Seel then reeled off four consecutive wins including service wins by both, the final by Jatar to take the opening set 6-3.

The Coffee duo took the opening game of the second set by holding serve only to have Seel and Jatar put together six straight wins including two breaks of Coffee’s service games to take the match 2-0 with a 6-1 victory that sealed the match.

Olivia Klein and McKenzie Hensarling got on the court in No. 2 doubles and won the first set 6-2 before the match ended.

Chamblee advances to host Centennial and has tentatively scheduled the match for 5:00 pm at Chamblee on Monday (May 1).

The Bulldogs dropped their second-round match 3-0 at Statesboro to end their season.

CLASS 6A
The Lakeside Vikings moved into the Class 6A state tennis playoffs quarterfinals with a 3-0 win at Lakeside-Evans on Monday.

Julian Santucci took a 2-0 win at No. 1 singles over Ashur Gilbert by a score of 6-0, 6-1 to kick things for the Vikings. Shaan Jani took the No. 2 singles 2-0 as well with a 6-1, 6-2 win over John Clark Cook.

The No. 1 doubles team of Wynnton Martin and Sam Fournier defeated the duo of Jacob Joseph and Liam Miner in straight sets by a score of 7-5 and 6-2.

Lakeside travels to Blessed Trinity on Monday for a 4:00 pm contest in the Elite 8.

The Lakeside Lady Vikings wrapped up their season on Monday with a 3-0 loss to Lakeside-Evans.
