Seven teams still undefeated in middle school basketball action.

The Salem Lions hit a buzzer-beating shot to knock off Chamblee 47-46 to keep pace with the Champion Chargers with unblemished 4-0 marks after play on Saturday.

Salem’s Nathaniel Winter hit the game winner at the buzzer to give Salem the thrilling win over the Bulldogs (1-3. 1-2). Chamblee had taken the lead with five seconds to play on a clutch three-pointer by Eston McDow to take a 46-45 lead. Winter finished with a game-high 16 points for Salem while Chamblee put three in double figures including McDow (15), Ellison Elly (14) and Dante Cutillo 10.

BOYS RECAPS
Lithonia 53, Tucker 36
Defensive pressure and the scoring duo of Armani Myco and Anthony Flournoy propelled the Lithonia Bulldogs (4-1, 3-1) to a 53-36 victory over the Tucker Tigers (0-3, 0-2). Myco and Flournoy scores 15 points each in the win. DeCarlo Dickerson hit for 12 points to lead Tucker.

Beacon Hill 26, Peachtree 24
Beacon Hill (2-1, 2-0) pulled out a 26-24 victory over the Peachtree Patriots (1-4, 1-3) in Region 2 boys’ play last Saturday. Beacon Hill got a team-high 8 points from Isaiah Wright and Trevor Lord scored a game-high 11 points to lead Peachtree.

Chapel Hill 39, Druid Hills 36
The Chapel Hill Panthers (2-2, 2-1) knocked the Druid Hills Dragons (3-1, 2-1) from the ranks of the undefeated with a tight 39-36 victory. Makhi Lombard had 10 points for Chapel Hill and Just Taylor added 8.

Cedar Grove 54, Sequoyah 5
Tayson Blunt’s 14 points and 8 steals led the Cedar Grove Saints (3-2, 2-2) in a 54-5 victory over the Sequoyah Braves (0-4, 0-3) on Saturday. Chase Boyce had 11 points and Edan Nathan added 10 to join Blunt in double figures.

Bethune 54, McNair 17
Mekyrius Miller hit for a game-high 21 points to lead the Bethune Lions (3-0, 2-0) to a 54-17 win over the McNair Mustangs (0-3, 0-2). The Lions remain undefeated on the season. Keshawn Briggs had 10 points, 3 steals and 3 assists to go along with Rashaad Silver’s 7 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists for Bethune.

Stephenson 45, Freedom 32
The Stephenson Jaguars (3-1, 2-1) pulled into a two-tie with Druid Hills for third place in the Region 1 standings with their 45-32 win over the Freedom Rams (1-4, 1-3).

Stone Mountain 28, Columbia 27
The Columbia Eagles (0-3, 0-2) came up just two points short of picking up their first win of the 2023 season falling 28-27 to the Stone Mountain Pirates (2-3, 1-3). Steve Smarte hit for game-high 19 points to lead Stone Mountain in the win. Nolan Donahue led the way for the Eagles with 11 points while Darrin Wright chipped in 6.

GIRLS RECAPS
The Lithonia Lady Bulldogs (1-4, 1-3) picked up their first win of the season in exciting fashion 24-23 over the Tucker Lady Tigers (0-3, 0-2). Miana Harris hit a free throw for the game winner and Jakiyah Jackson was key in the win with her play. Zaria McKibbins had 10 points to lead Tucker and Iyonna Hinton added 7.

Cedar Grove 51, Sequoyah 4
Ziryah Bell hit for a game-high 19 points (4 rebs, 2 stls, 4 assts) to lead Cedar Grove (4-1, 3-1) to a 51-4 Region 2 win over Sequoyah (0-4, 0-3). Imani Coleman added 15 points (4 rebs, 5 stls, 2 assts) and Faith Andrews added 8 points (6 rebs, 2 stls, 3 assts) for the Lady Saints.

Beacon Hill 22, Peachtree 18
Beacon Hill (2-1, 2-0) remained undefeated in Region 2 play with a 22-18 defensive victory over Peachtree (1-4, 1-3) on Saturday. Nadiya Mohamed led the way with 8 points while Kendale Lanier added 6 and Leighellen Lucas 5 for Beacon Hill.

Stephenson 39, Freedom 14
Stephenson (4-0, 3-0) remained undefeated on the season with a 39-14 Region 1 win over Freedom (1-4, 1-2). Jayla Walton and Cyncere Sims-Turner led the way with 15 and 11 points, respectively. JiAsia Coggins added 9 and Faith Fuller 5 for the Lady Jaguars.

Champion 46, Henderson 14
A balance scoring attack was big for Champion (4-0, 3-0) in a 46-14 win over Henderson (2-3, 1-3) in Region 2 play to stay undefeated. Essence Grier was the leader with 12 points followed by Charmaine Owens with 9 (6 steals), Jhia Promrose 8 (6 rebounds), Sanaa Stanton (6 (5 rebounds, 4 steals) and Euniece Bannerman 5 points.

Columbia 35, Stone Mountain 22
Columbia (2-1, 1-1) evened their Region 2 record with a 35-22 win over Stone Mountain (1-3, 0-3). Tamicah Pate was the lone player in double figures for Columbia with 10 points followed by Angel Rice with 9 and Aaliyah Latimore with 8.

Salem 59, Chamblee 12
Shanya Heath and Mya Perry combined for 54 of Salem’s 59 points in a 59-12 win over Chamblee (3-1, 2-1) in Region 2 action on Saturday. Heath hit for a game-high 30 points and Mya Perry went for 24 as Salem (4-0, 3-0) remained undefeated on the season.
