The Champion boys’ and girls’ basketball teams remain undefeated heading into play this weekend.

The Champion Chargers boys’ and girls’ basketball teams both improved to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in Region 2 action with victories over Cedar Grove.

Charmaine Owens hit for a game-high 18 points and had 6 steals to lead the Lady Chargers to a 40-14 win over the Lady Saints (4-2, 3-2). Jhia Primrose added another solid performance with 6 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 blocked shots. Sanaa Stanton and Essence Grier notched 5 points each for Champion.

GIRLS RECAPS
Chamblee 44, Henderson 33
Late baskets by Elise Taylor, Liz Taylor and Laila Rao helped the Chamblee Lady Bulldogs (4-1, 3-1) hold off the Henderson Lady Cougars (2-4, 1-4) 44-33 in a Region 2 victory. Sara Adekunle had 13 points to lead Chamblee in scoring.

Columbia 40, Miller Grove 19
A pair of Columbia Lady Eagles (3-1, 1-1) hit double figures to lead their team to a 40-19 win over the Miller Grove Lady Wolverines (0-4, 0-3) in Region 1 play on Wednesday. Kennedi Johnson hit for 14 points and Angel Rice contributed 11 in the win.

Druid Hills 37, Stone Mountain 10
Kassidy Manning led a trio of players that contributed to the Druid Hills Lady Dragons (4-1, 3-1) 37-10 win over the Stone Mountain Lady Pirates (1-4, 0-4) in a Region 1 battle. Manning scored 11 points and Azelia Shell added 10 and Avyana Mitchell pitched in with 8 more to lead Druid Hills.

In other action Peachtree (2-4, 2-3) knocked off Sequoyah (0-5, 0-4) 36-7 in a Region 2 contest.

BOYS RECAPS
The Champion Chargers (5-0, 4-0) jumped in front 16-2 over the Cedar Grove Saints (3-3, 2-3) on the way to a 54-25 victory in Region 2 action on Wednesday. The full court pressure led by Jackson Ushery, Carlin Cabbil, Akil Robinson and Rance McKenzie limited the Saints chances to score. Ushery finished with a game-high 20 points for Champion.

Miller Grove 35, Columbia 25
The duo of Caleb Calhoun and Stephon Barnes hit double figures to lead the Miller Grove Wolverines (1-3, 1-2) to their first win of the season in a 35-25 victory over the Columbia Eagles (0-4, 0-3). Calhoun hit for 12 points (5 rebounds, 4 steals) and Barnes added 11 (7 rebounds). Eddie Johnson was big in the lane for Miller Grove with 9 rebounds and 6 blocked shots. Nolan Donahue had 8 points and Chris Glen 6 points for the Eagles.

Chamblee 58, Henderson 45
Three players hit double figures to lead the Chamblee Bulldogs (2-3, 2-2) to a 58-45 Region 2 win over the Henderson Cougars (2-4, 1-4) on Wednesday. Eston McDow was the lead with 16 points followed by Dante Cutillo with 14 and Ellison Eily with 12. Henderson got a game-high of 15 points by Joshua Mosley and Nate Dorsett added 6 points.

Druid Hills 70, Stone Mountain 37
Stone Richards put together a big game of 20 points and 6 assists to catapult the Druid Hills Dragons (4-1, 3-1) to a 70-37 victory over the Stone Mountain Pirates (2-3, 1-3) in Region 1 play on Wednesday. Oluremi Guerro contributed a solid 13 points and 7 rebounds in the win.

In other action on Wednesday, Peachtree (2-3, 2-3) defeated Sequoyah 49-12 in Region 2 play.
