Chamblee defeated Tucker 13-7 in 1974 and the Bulldogs had to wait 48 years to get a taste of victory against the Tigers producing a 15-10 win at North DeKalb Stadium on Thursday night.

Tucker (2-5, 0-2) got out in front early as Ethan Sanders ran four-yards into the end zone with 6:37 left in the first quarter to get on the scoreboard first. Evan Ffrench tacked on the PAT to make in 7-0 in the Tigers favor.

The score remained 7-0 until the 8:15 mark of the second quarter when Chamblee’s Jack Hawkins powered into the end zone for the Bulldogs (5-1, 2-0). Daniel Chavez knocked in the PAT to tie the game at 7-7.

Chamblee took the lead for good when a bad snap went over quarterback Jamar Graham’s head and out of the back of the end zone to put the Bulldogs up 9-7 with 3:36 left in the first half.

Larry Harris extended the Bulldogs lead to 15-7 with a big run around the right side. Harris broke a couple of tackles before outracing the Tiger defenders 32 yards into the end zone. Tucker’s Will Johnson broke through the line to block the Pat to keep the score at 15-7.

Tucker put three points on the board following a Christopher Jackson fumble recovery at the Chamblee 14. The Bulldog defense held the Tigers and forced a 29-yard field goal attempt. Evan Ffrench knocked the kick through to make it 15-10 with 4:44 to play in the game.

Chamblee’s defense had also come up big earlier as Worsham got loose for a 59-yard run down to the Tucker 17. The Bulldogs stopped a scrambling Connor Whaley a yard shy of the first down marker.

Chamblee drove to the Tucker 43 before the Tigers rose up to stop the drive. Chamblee’s Daniel Chavez who did an excellent job flipping the field all night pinned the Tigers at their own one-yard line with the aid of Levi Brabham who kept the ball from going into the end zone.

Tucker was facing 99 yards of real estate with 3:07 left in the game. Whaley scrambled down the field for a 24-yard gain to give the Tigers breathing room at the 25.

Facing a third and seven with two minutes to play Whaley scrambled left and found Izayah Horsham open and lofted a pass to the Tiger running back. Horsham turned up field and cut away from a Chamblee defender who tripped him up. As Worsham was falling a Bulldog defender hit him and knocked the football loose and Chamblee’s Miller Meeks recovered at the Tucker 48.

Chamblee went into the victory formation and ran out the clock to seal its first win in its last 12 tries against the Tigers. Tucker had averaged winning the past 11 meetings by a margin of 39.3 points.

Larry Harris ran for 113 yards and a touchdown on nine carries to lead the Bulldogs. Horsham ran for 72 yards on six carries and Graham ran for 54 yards on eight carries to lead the Tigers ground attack.

McNair 25, Towers 6
The McNair Mustangs broke a 19-game region losing streak as they knocked off the Towers Titans (0-5-1) 25-6 at Godfrey Stadium on Thursday night.

McNair last won a region game on November 2, 2018, by knocking off Therrell 18-13.

Tristian Victor put the Mustangs (3-4, 1-2) on the road to the big Region 5-2A win opening up the game with an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Jeremy Victor and Malachi Jackson were big on offense for the Mustangs. Victor threw two touchdown passes to Jackson covering 100 yards in the process while also rushing for 125 yards on 11 carries.

Emmanuel Clark was a big part of the defense as he collected eight tackles to go with two pass breakups, one interception and a sack.

Stone Mountain 52, Clarkston 0
Quarterback Cameron Graves threw two touchdown passes to Jabril Dixon and rushed for another score to lead the Stone Mountain Pirates to a 52-0 homecoming win over the Clarkston Angoras (1-5) at Hallford Stadium on Thursday night.

AJ Hardge got he Pirates (2-4) off to an early advantage as he scored two first quarter touchdowns.

Stone Mountain’s defense was anchored by Amon Martin who picked up 2 sacks with five tackles for a loss and a fumble recovery to help his Pirates teammates pull off the big run.

Columbia 21, Landmark Christian 10
Elijah Morgan threw three touchdown passes as the Columbia Eagles (5-2, 2-1) rebounded from a big loss to Callaway last week to defeat Landmark Christian (3-4, 1-2)) 21-10 on Thursday night at Avondale Stadium.

Jadan Baugh was he recipient of one of the touchdown passes by Morgan. Running backs Royce Tolbert and Lamaze Williams provided some breathing room for Columbia with some big runs throughout the game.
