The Stephenson Jaguar offensive line paved the way for 301 yards rushing (213 in the second half) as they rallied in the fourth quarter for an 18-13 victory over the Westminster Wildcats at Hallford Stadium on homecoming night.

Stephenson (4-2, 2-0) held a 31 minute to 17-minute advantage in time of possession in the game including two drives in the deciding four quarter that ran 9:40 off the clock.

Westminster (4-3, 1-1) took a 13-12 lead on the first play of the fourth quarter when quarterback John Collier dropped back, pump faked and the found Henry Chartrand wide open at the 20-yard line on the way to a 47-yard touchdown pass play. The Wildcats went for two, but a Jaguar defensive lineman batted the pass down to keep the margin at one with 11:50 to play.

Stephenson then proceeded to put together a nine-play, 80-yard drive on all the ground behind their offensive front. Running back Devin Ingram (30 carries, 202 yards, 1 TD) ripped off a 20-yard run to put the Jaguars near midfield. Facing a fourth and one at the Westminster 46 they went to the second half of their running back duo Cheik Keita, who ripped off an 11-yard run to keep the drive alive.

Ingram got around the right side for a 23-yard gain to the Wildcat 12. Keita would finish off the drive with a hard earned 11-yard run and one-yard gain for the touchdown with 7:17 to play. The run for two was no good to keep the lead at 18-13 in favor of the Jaguars.

The Jaguar defense forced a three and out and following a punt that went out at the Stephenson 45 the Jaguars proceeded to march to the Wildcat 12, Ingram with a 22-yard scamper aided the final possession of the game, and run out the final 4:52 of the game to seal the win.

Stephenson controlled the football for almost 11 minutes (2 possessions) of the first quarter and scored on the first play of the second on a seven-yard touchdown run by Ingram to take a 6-0 lead.

Westminster put together a drive as the first half clock ran under five minutes to take a 7-6 lead at the half on a quarterback sneak from the one-yard line by Collier. Josh Brockman tacked on the PAT. The Wildcats looked to be facing a fourth and six at the Stephenson 23 when a roughing the passer call extended the drive.

Stephenson forced the Wildcats to punt on the opening possession of the second half and took over at their own two when Westminster punter Conrad Shuver put 42-yard punt out of bounds.

Ingram got away from a tackle near the line of scrimmage on the second play and but for a big hustle play by a Wildcat defender he would have been on his way for a 95-yard touchdown run. Instead, he netted 21 yards and the Jaguars had breathing room.

Keita contributed a 22-yard run in the drive and a 13-yard scramble by quarterback Marte Barton kept the chains moving. The 12th play of the drive was a four-yard run off right tackle by Keita for the touchdown. A two-point run failed as the Jaguars took a 12-7 lead. The drive had consumed 6:15 off the clock.

All-in-all, the Jaguars ran 28 plays in the second half without one pass to 13 plays for the Wildcats.

Ingram’s 202 yards for the game included 143 yards on 16 carries in the second half. Kieta added 10 carries for 70 yards and two touchdowns in the second half to finish with 92 yards on the ground.

The Jaguar defense held Westminster to just 150 yards of total offense (55 rushing, 95 passing).
