DeKalb County schools once again had to battle the elements last week, as rainy weather forced numerous postponements. Five local teams registered perfect records, with Redan leading the way with a 2-0 showing.

Coach Alexander Wyche’s Redan Raiders took over the title of the hottest squad in the county from Lakeside, moving to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in Region 5-AAA with identical dominating doubleheader triumphs of 15-0 over Douglass March 14.

Coach Chan English’s Dunwoody Wildcats took out the frustrations of another rugged slate of non-region games, blistering Meadowcreek in their region opener by the lopsided score of 30-1 March 15 to improve to 3-9 overall and 1-0 in 7-AAAAAAA.

Tucker opened Region 4-AAAAAA action with impressive 13-0 blanking of Morrow March 14. Coach Bobby Link’s Tigers improved to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in 4-AAAAAA with the victory.

Columbia began its Region 6-AA schedule with a powerful 21-1 road decision over Kipp Academy March 16. Coach Greg Barnett’s Eagles improved to 6-6 overall and 1-0 in 6-AA with the triumph.

Coach Eric Love’s Druid Hills Red Devils stayed perfect at 2-0 in Region 6-AAAA with a 7-4 home victory over Arabia Mountain March 14. Druid Hills also moved to 6-4 overall.

Junior Cullen Riel went the full six innings on the mound for Druid Hills in a 7-4 victory over Arabia Mountain March 14. Riel struck out seven and allowed six hits, four walks and one earned run to garner the pitching triumph. Senior Jaden Camp (1-3; 2 RS), junior Ian O’Connor (1-4), senior Cody Akins (1-3; 2 RBI; 1 SB) and senior Dylan Akins (1-2; 1 RS) collected one hit each on the offensive side for Druid Hills.

Sophomore Charles Windham (2-4; 2 RS; 1 RBI; 4 SB) and freshman Robert Washington (2-2; 2 RS) each collected two hits for Lithonia in Lithonia’s 11-1 Region 5-AAAAA victory over Clarkston March 14. Freshman Xavier Scott (3 IP; 2 HA; 4 SO; 1 BB) started and gained credit for the pitching decision for the Bulldogs, while senior Wali Washington (3 IP; 1 HA; 5 SO; 1 BB) claimed the save. Senior Brandon Cooper (2-3; 1 RS; 2 SB) and junior Kokou Afunlona (2-2; 1 2B; 2 SB) led the offensive charge for Clarkston in the 11-1 road defeat at Lithonia March 14.

Senior Leon Cohen (1-3; 2 RS; 1 RBI; 1 SB), junior Fabian Walker (1-1; 1 RS; 1 SB) and junior David Welsh (1-3; 2 RBI; 1 RS; 1 2B) provided the only offense for Chamblee in a 12-5 home loss to Decatur March 14. Junior Noah Harkins (3 IP; 6 RA; 7 HA; 4 SO; 1 BB) started on the mound and took the loss for the Bulldogs.

Senior Isaac Terrell (1-1) and junior Devon Moyer (1-2) delivered the lone hits for Lakeside in a 10-0 home loss to North Atlanta March 14. Senior Malachi Cloud (1-3; 2 RBI; 1 RS; 1 HR) and sophomore Adam Boogd (1-1; 1 RBI) provided the only hits for Lakeside in a 14-3 road loss at North Atlanta March 17.

Freshman Kyler Wimbish (2-2) registered two hits in Southwest DeKalb’s 10-0 road defeat at Northview March 17.

Sophomore Antwan Parks delivered the only hit for Towers in a 17-0 road loss at Lovett March 17.

Senior Roderick Brown (1-1; 1 SB) and junior Skylan Jackson (1-2) accounted for the only hits for Martin Luther King Jr. in a 12-0 road defeat the hands of St. Pius March 14.

Senior Immanuel Hill (1-2; 1 RS; 1 SB) and senior Ahmad Herren (1-2; 1 RS; 2 SB) provided the lone hits for McNair in an 11-3 home loss to Washington March 17.
