The No. 2 ranked Cedar Grove Saints scored six rushing touchdowns and two defensive touchdowns on the way to a 60-0 win over the Towers Titans at Avondale Stadium on Thursday night.

Three first quarter scores had the Saints up 20-0 kick started by a fumble on the opening kickoff by the Titans (2-5, 0-3). The Saints recovered on the Towers 21-yard line and needed just one play to score as sophomore Janiran Bonner took the ball on an end around and bulled his way into the end zone from the three just 20 seconds into the game. Luis Dominguez was good on the PAT to make it 7-0.

Cedar Grove got the ball back with 9:33 to play in the first period and needed just 5 plays and 1:34 on the clock to go 55 yards all on the legs of tailback Chavon Wright. Wright had carries of 7, 20, 10, 16 and 2 yards to get the ball into the end zone. Dominguez was good again for a 14-0 lead with 8:09 left in the quarter.

A 26-yard run by Wright set up the final score of the first quarter with Austin Smith going the final two yards on a quarterback keeper to push the lead to 20-0 as the quarter ended. A two-point pass was no good.

Less than two minutes into the second quarter Cedar Grove cornerback Tee Denson pulled down an interception at the Towers’ 15 and returned it for the touchdown with 10:28 remaining in the first half. The Dominguez PAT was good again to make it 27-0 in favor of the Saints.

Linebacker Alvin Williams picked up a fumble and returned it 40 yards with 7:42 left in the half and the Saints pushed it out to 34-0 with the PAT.

Smith hit Bernard Mack in the end zone for a three-yard scoring toss with 2:33 left in the first half to make it 40-0 going into the break.

Timothy Newman would score from 24 yards and 2 yards in the first 3 minutes of the second half as the lead ballooned to 54-0 with Dominguez adding the PATS.

Ventrillo Dunlap finished the scoring with a tough three-yard run in the fourth quarter to make the final of 60-0.

The Saints rushed for 266 yards and six touchdowns in the game led by Wright with 6 carries for 81 yards and Newman with 8 carries for 56 yards and two touchdowns.

Towers managed just 30 yards of total offense on the night as the Saints defense forced 12 plays for a loss.
