As eight DeKalb County football teams sit out this weekend only six home games are set along with four away games as the other 11 teams line it up beginning on Thursday (tonight).

The No. 2 ranked Cedar Grove Saints (4-2, 2-0) tee it up against the Towers Titans (2-4, 0-2)) at Avondale Stadium at 7:30 tonight in a region 5-3A game that was moved up a day.

Saints’ quarterback Austin Smith is coming off a 7-7 night for 174 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Redan. Two touchdowns went to Janiran Bonner (2 receptions, 67 yards). Defensive lineman Damarius Jackson had three tackles for a loss and linebacker Isaiah Ratcliff had 10 tackles and two for a loss.

Towers fell 54-12 to Lovett last week despite both Isaiah Logan (101 yards) and Khalil White (105 yards) both passing for over 100 yards in the game. White also had a fumble return for a score in the game.

Cedar Grove has a 20-game win streak in Region 5-3A action dating back to a loss to Westminster in 2016.

The Lakeside Vikings (0-6) also get some Thursday night action as they travel to Parkview to face the Panthers (4-1) in Region 7-7A action.

Five home games are set for Friday night including a pair of doubleheaders involving McNair (0-6) hosting Douglass (5-1) in a 5:15 pm Region 6-2A tilt at Godfrey Stadium and Clarkston (0-6) hosting Social Circle (1-4) at 5:15 pm at Hallford Stadium

Druid Hills is going for its first Region 4-4A win as the Red Devils (2-3) host Salem (0-5) at Adams Stadium with kickoff set for 7:30 pm.

The late game at Godfrey features a big Region 4-6A matchup as the Martin Luther King Jr. Lions (4-1) are looking to bounce back to their loss to Stephenson a week ago as they take on the Lovejoy Wildcats (4-2) who dropped a seven-point decision to the Tucker Tigers last week.

Stephenson plays the second game at Hallford Stadium on Friday as the Jaguars (4-1) host Forest Park (1-5) in a Region 4-6A game. The Jaguars look to keep themselves in contention for defending their region title of 2018.
