Nine DeKalb football teams going on the road this week and six more are having a bye week makes for a light four-game home schedule as the high school season reaches the halfway mark.

Three of the home games are region contests including the undefeated Martin Luther King Jr. Lions (3-0, 1-0) and Tucker Tigers (2-2, 2-0) taking on Region 4-6A foes from Clayton County on Friday night.

King hosts the Mundy’s Mill Tigers (0-2, 2-2) at Godfrey Stadium with kickoff set for 7:30 pm

The Lions are coming off a thrilling come-from-behind 14-13 win over Mt. Zion-Jonesboro behind the running of quarterback Jacobi Haynes (21 carries, 177 yards, 1 TD) and Dequan’dre Moore’s 87-yard punt return. Trevon Jackson’s interception in the end zone with just over a minute left preserved the win for the Lions. Keion Cush made the big play on special teams for the Lions as he blocked the potential tying extra point kick.

Mundy’s Mill is coming off a 44-20 loss to Tucker last week and are looking for their first region win. The Lions are going for their first 4-0 start since their 10-0 perfect regular season in 2012.
