Druid Hills made its first appearance at a DeKalb County cross country meet this week a good one with a sweep of the first races of the day at Druid Hills Middle School.

The Red Devils put five runners across the finish line in the Top 10 to get past Clarkston 30-47 followed Tucker (76), Chamblee (122), Lakeside (124) and Dunwoody (135).

Senior Mike Rosenbluth (18:19.60) took second place with the third best time at Druid Hills Middle this year to lead the group of Red Devils. Sophomore Sage Walker (19:03.30) and junior Emmanuel Greene (19:04.20) crossed in fourth and fifth, respectively. Sophomore Will Goldsmith (19:40.80) was ninth and junior Graham Norris (19:51.40) rounded out the first 10 runners of the day.

Clarkston’s second place was led by junior Thaddee Barge’s (18:10.90) first place finish with the second best time of the season at Druid Hills. Frimosa Ibrahim (19:38.50) was seventh to put two Angoras in the Top 10.

Tucker senior Yesahk Ergano (18:35.70) grabbed third place while sophomore teammate Yordanos Ephram (19:40.80) was eighth.

Chamblee had a Top 10 finisher in junior Diego DeAlba (19:22.20).

The Lady Red Devils put up seven of the best times this season in girls’ competition at Druid Hills Middle to take seven of the Top 10 spots led by sophomore Sophia Shepherd (21:10.30) who moved to the top of the girls’ best times list. Druid Hills’ 18-point total outpaced Chamblee (76), Clarkston (91), Dunwoody (95) and Lakeside (107).

Shepherd was followed across the line by senior Genevieve Ferrara (22:17.90) in a sweep of the top two spots.

After Lakeside freshman Haley Davis (22:54.70) finished third, it was five consecutive Lady Red Devils to cross the line. Sophomore MiAngel Jones (23:57.70) led the way followed by senior Asena Anderson (24:08.00), sophomore Charlotte Walker (24:20.20) and Katie Blount (24:21.60).

Clarkston picked up the final two Top 10 slots as junior Zoi Woods (24.46.60) and Malik Colette (25:05.50) crossed the line in ninth and tenth, respectively.

Martin Luther King Jr. swept a pair of races from Southwest DeKalb in the second varsity race of the day led by the Lady Lions sweep of the Top 5 finishes for a perfect score of 15.

Seniors Daisy Grier-Rower (24:48.30) and Aaliyah Peterson (26:49.30) finished 1-2 for King to lead the group of five. Juniors Jasmine Paige (26:56.60) and Star Grier Rowers (27:43.20) followed in order with Sophomore Demetria Lind (27:56.20) sealing the perfect scot in fifth. Senior teammate Allison Walker (29:45.70) was eighth.

Southwest DeKalb had four runners in the Top 10 to score 43 points in the meet led by junior Angelee Mitchell (28:12.00) and senior Destiny Remy (28:58.70) taking sixth and seventh, respectively. Seniors Nya Bostic (30:21.20) in ninth and Mecca Johnson (30:31.50) in tenth rounded out the Top 10.

The Lions picked up their third consecutive win in the DeKalb meets 18-40 over Southwest DeKalb as Darian Wragg (19:29.70) took the top spot for the third time.

Senior Lions’ teammate Zai Anderson-Brown (20:20.50) was second. Seniors Kingsley Harris (20:48.20), Christan Boyd (20:55.20) and Jamari Hopkins (21:09.20) grabbed fourth through sixth, respectively. Junior Mekhi Keith (21:48.10) made it six Lions in the Top 10 as he crossed in eighth.

Southwest DeKalb had three runners in the Top 10 led by third place finisher senior Jackson Taylor (20:21.70), junior Jalon Kimborough (21:40.00) in seventh and senior Calvin Mosley (22:04.90).

Towers senior Aye Min Thu (22:07.30) was tenth on the day.

JV Recap
Dunwoody swept the Junior Varsity races at Druid Hills on Tuesday. The Wildcats led by Nicolas Federico (12:31.00) won the boys’ race 15-64 over Redan.

Dunwoody finished with 19 points in the girls race to finish ahead of Druid Hills (50) and Martin Luther King Jr. (74).

Redan’s Melanie Pacella (13:25.20) took the top spot in the race.
