The 2023 DeKalb County Schools Junior Varsity Basketball Championships move into the semifinals on Saturday (Feb. 4) following a big day of quarterfinal action last week.

Arabia Mountain and Southwest DeKalb both swept the girls’ and boys’ quarterfinal games at home last weekend.

Arabia Mountain (11-0) defeated Miller Grove (4-8) 39-22 in the girls’ opener at Arabia Mountain. Caiden Bradford was player of the game for the Lady Rams. Arabia Mountain hosts Stephenson (8-3) which won at home against Lakeside (5-6) 36-27 behind the play of Keira Brooks (12 points, 4 assists, 4 steals). The pair are set for a 10:00 am tip in the single game.

The Rams (10-1) moved into the boys’ semifinals via a 52-43 win over the Miller Grove Wolverines (6-5). Kameron Gribble hit for 15 points to lead the Rams in the win. Arabia Mountain travels to Southwest DeKalb to take on the Panthers (11-0) in the boys’ semifinals.

Southwest DeKalb knocked off Druid Hills (7-5) 53-39 behind 13 points from Azeez Bello and 12 from Aaron Burks. Southwest and Arabia Mountain are set for an 11:30 am start on the Panthers’ home court.

The Lady Panthers (11-0) are set to host Chamblee (10-1) on Saturday at 10:00 am as both teams advanced into the semifinals. Southwest DeKalb won 42-21 over Lithonia (5-5-1) behind the play of Shamaria Arnold and De’Asia Kelly. Chamblee upended Columbia (7-4) 44-15 at Columbia to move forward.

The Columbia Eagles (10-1) got past the Chamblee Bulldogs (8-3) 57-53 to move into the semifinals. Columbia will host Lithonia at 10:00 am on Saturday. Lithonia (9-3) upset No. 1 seed Tucker 54-40 behind the leadership of Isaiah Sloan.
