Chamblee completed a Sweet 16 sweep as the Bulldogs need just three matches to defeat the Northgate Vikings 3-0 at Chamblee High School on Monday afternoon to advance to the Class 5A boys’ state tennis playoffs Elite 8.

Gunnar Hagen and William Hackney cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Northgate’s Thomas Akey and David Onohwosa at the No. 1 doubles slot to give Chamblee its first of the needed three points to advance.

Chamblee’s No. 2 singles player Landon Marcus won the first nine games of his match against Northgate’s Levi Smith on the way to a 6-0, 6-1 win to move the Bulldogs out to 2-0 in the match. Smith won the fourth game of the second set before Marcus won the next three to finish off the match.

Jacob Dorland made it a 3-0 sweep with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Northgate’s Leyton Dunn at No. 1 singles. Dorland lost the opening game of the first set and then ran off six consecutive wins to take the opening set 6-1. Dunn rallied from 0-2 in the second set to even the match at 2-2 as he was able to get a service break against Dorland and win his serve.

Kai Henderson and Kavi Pallan were up a set after winning their opening set 6-0 against Northgate’s Tyler Worley and William Bond when Dorland clinched the match.

Northgate’s Bryson Tekvoiran held a 3-0 advantage on Chamblee’s Alex Coursey at No. 3 singles when the match ended.
