The Cedar Grove Saints scored 28 first-half points on the way to a 28-14 Trail to the Title semifinal victory over the Chapel Hill Panthers at Godfrey Stadium on Saturday.

The Saints (6-2) got on the board on a Brenden Flournoy touchdown run to get out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter.

The lead went up to 14-0 later in the period as Brandon Davis ran a quarterback sneak for the touchdown and then passed to Dale Perry for the two-point conversion.

Davis dropped back to pass on the Chapel Hill 10-yard line early in the second quarter and connected with Perry on a 10-yard scoring toss. Davis then tacked on the two-point conversion via the run to make it 22-0.

The lead expanded to 28-0 with 2:55 left in the first half as Davis used his legs to scramble 10 yards into the end zone. The two-point conversion failed and the Saints went into the half up 28-0.

Damarion Davis hit Brycen Tolbert for an 11-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to get the Panthers (6-2) on the scoreboard. The two-point conversion was good to make it a 28-8 game.

Early in the fourth quarter Chapel Hill’s Ty’Reese Jones picked off a pass and returned it 82 yards to pull the Panthers within 28-14.

Cedar Grove would prevent anymore scores in taking the 28-14 win and moving on to the Trail to the Title championship game. The Saints make their fifth appearance in the title game having won back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015.

The Saints take on defending champion Stephenson (8-0) at 10:00 at Avondale Stadium on Saturday.
