DeKalb County football teams are fighting for playoff berths this during Week 11 of the high school football season as several key region games are scheduled for DeKalb stadiums beginning on Thursday.

The Dunwoody Wildcats (7-1, 2-1) host the Riverwood Raiders (3-5, 1-2) at 7:00 pm on Thursday at North DeKalb Stadium with a chance to clinch the Wildcats’ first state playoff berth since 2008 as Dunwoody celebrates senior night and homecoming.

Dunwoody is coming off a 34-0 win over South Cobb while Riverwood is coming off back-to-back region losses to North Atlanta and St. Pius. A win by the Wildcats would seal a No. 3 seed heading into the playoffs out of Region 4-6A.

Quarterback Matt Pearch (1,114 yards passing, 13 TDs) triggers the offense that includes receiver Danny Boden (almost 500 yards receiving, 4 TDs) and running back Malachi Cranshaw (over 600 yards rushing, 6 TDs).

The defense which has three shutouts on the season and is allowing just 10.1 points per game is a big key to the Wildcats 7-1 start. Senior linebacker Luke Cole leads the defense with over 70 tackles and over 25 tackles for a loss.

Stephenson vs. Holy Innocent’s
The Stephenson Jaguars (6-2, 2-1) host Holy Innocent’s (7-1, 2-1) with a home playoff game on the line as they tangle on Thursday at 7:30 pm in the confines of Hallford Stadium.

The two teams are tied atop the Region 6-4A standings along with Westminster (5-3, 2-1) and Hapeville Charter (4-4, 2-1).

Stephenson is led by senior running back Devin Ingram (1,399 yards rushing, 19 TDs) who is averaging 169 yards per game. The defense is led by senior linebacker Kaleb Bristow (71 tackles, 5 sacks, 2 interceptions).

Miller Grove vs. Hapeville
The Miller Grove Wolverines (5-3, 1-2) host the Hapeville Hornets (4-4, 2-1) on Friday night at 7:30 pm at Hallford Stadium in another big game with playoff implications in Region 6-4A.

The Wolverines are looking to knock the Hornets out of first place and move into a better position in the chase for the Class 4A state playoff berth facing back-to-back weeks against first place teams in the final two games of the season. Westminster looms in the final week of the season.

Senior running back Ta’Jon Corbitt (983 yards rushing, 11 TDs), quarterback Amonte Harden (1,575 yards passing, 14 TDs: 377 yards rushing, 5 TDs) and receivers Keshawn Weathers (555 yards, 2 TDs) and Ali Dargan (507 yards, 8 TDs) lead a potent offensive attack for Miller Grove.

In Region 4-5A action Tucker (5-3, 3-0) and Arabia Mountain (7-1, 3-0) are on a collision course for a game to decide the region title on the final weekend of the regular season.

Arabia Mountain looks to get its seven-game win streak going as the Rams host the Martin Luther King Jr. Lions (2-6, 1-2) at 7:30 pm on Friday.
