The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs missed a third straight appearance in the Class 5A State Tournament as they fell 4-0 to Northside in the finals of the Columbus Super Regional as the only DeKalb team to advance to the championship round.

Chamblee (23-5-1) rebounded from an 8-0 loss in the semifinals with a second consecutive win over Statesboro (15-10-1) taking an 11-3 victory to reach the regional finals.

Northside’s pitching proved to be too much in the finals for the Lady Bulldogs as Northside shutout the Lady Bulldogs once again.

In Class 4A Super Regional action both Southwest DeKalb and Miller Grove fell in two straight games to get eliminated from state playoff contention.

Southwest DeKalb (9-12) lost its opener in the Lovett Super Regional 10-0 to eventual region winner Sonoraville. The Lady Panthers then dropped a 9-4 decision to Lovett in the first round of the losers’ bracket.

Miller Grove (13-7) dropped a 20-2 decision to host Heritage-Catoosa in the opening game of the Ringgold Super Regional. The Lady Wolverines then lost a 14-13 heartbreaker to Hampton in the first round of the losers’ bracket.

In Class 2A play, the Redan Lady Raiders (7-8) also lost two straight to exit the playoffs in action at the Banks County Super Regional. Redan fell 17-1 to host Banks County in the opener and then fell 15-0 in the first round of the losers’ bracket to Walker.
