Football season is winding for DeKalb County middle school football teams as they head into an open date this weekend before wrapping up the regular season on Saturday, October 14.

McNair sealed the Region 4 title as they improved to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the region with a convincing 36-14 victory over the defending region champions Cedar Grove Saints (3-2, 2-1) this past Saturday at Godfrey Stadium.

Rashad Blaylock caught three touchdown passes from Deontae Daugherty and threw another to Jacoby Johnson in leading the Mustangs to victory against Cedar Grove. Blaylock and Nathan Fouembitoue had interceptions on defense and teammate Demonte Robinson added a pick six for another score.

The Saints were led by Brandon Davis who threw a touchdown pass and ran for another. Davis connected with Zack Bell for the passing touchdown and Bell ran for 100 yards on the ground.

Stephenson 46, Bethune 0
The Stephenson Jaguars (5-0, 3-0) moved closed to a second consecutive undefeated regular season with a 46-0 win over the Bethune Lions (0-4-1, 0-2-1) on Saturday at Adams Stadium.

Wayne TJ Jenkins led the Jaguars with two touchdowns a two-point conversion in the win to lead the offense. Demario Minter II (50-yard TD run) and touchdown runs by both Michael Miller and Noah Mahoney contributed to the scoring for the Jaguars. Aaryn Chastine and Quentez Shaffer each contributed a two-point conversion. Gavin Kinchen added another touchdown with a punt return for a score.

Kinchen along with Jordan Miller and Carlos Wilson led the defense in the shutout.

Stephenson has one Region 3 game left with Stone Mountain on October 14 to go for the undefeated regular season and is set at the Region 3 No. 1 seed owning the tiebreaker in a head-to-head win over Chapel Hill.

Champion 56, Sequoyah 6
The Champion Chargers (4-0-1, 3-0) sealed the Region 1 No. 1 seed with a 56-6 win over the Sequoyah Braves (0-5, 0-3) on Saturday at North DeKalb Stadium.

Seven different players scored in the game for the Chargers including an 18-yard touchdown pass play between Michael Barnett and Jhalil Benson to start the scoring in the first quarter. Kaejohn Fitzgerald made it 14-0 with a 28-yard fumble return for touchdown later in the first quarter. Jeremiah Tillman upped the score to 20-0 with a 22-yard run in the second quarter.

After Sequoyah got on the score with a 40-yard touchdown run by Emanuel Moreno (83 yards rushing in the game), Chauncey Henderson scored on a 38-yard run to make it 28-6 at the half.

Henderson (3 carries, 97 yards, 2 TDs) scored his second touchdown of the game on a short run in the third quarter. Jevontae Barber, Miles Snipes and Austin Graves all added touchdowns in the second half.

Moreno (6 tackles) and Roderick Smith (5 tackles, 1 interception) led the Braves defense. Smith added five receptions for 30 yards on offense for the Braves.

Tucker 14, Lithonia 0
The Tucker Tigers (4-0-1, 3-0) secured the Region 2 No. 1 playoff seed via a 14-0 shutout win over the Lithonia Bulldogs (4-1, 2-1) in a defensive struggle at Hallford Stadium on Saturday.

The game was 0-0 in the third quarter when Jerron Guiden intercepted a Lithonia pass to set up the first score of the game for the Tigers. Maverick Armour broke several tackles on the way to a 10-yard touchdown for the lead and Kruz Marion ran in the two-point conversion to make it 8-0.

Guiden added a rushing touchdown to push the lead out to 14-0 and Quaneski Smith sealed the win with a late interception.

Lithonia takes the No. 2 seed from Region 2 with the playoffs coming up on October 21.

Chamblee 28, Henderson 8
The Chamblee Bulldogs (3-2, 2-1) secured a second consecutive playoff berth with a 28-8 win over the Henderson Cougars (2-3, 1-2) at North DeKalb Stadium on Saturday.

Jah Emerson’s big touchdown catch from Gabe Jimison on a fourth and 15 for the Bulldogs got Chamblee rolling in the game. Ellison Ely ran for 130-yards with a pair of touchdowns to lead the ground attack. Jimison (200 yards passing) also connected with Bobby Woods (3 catches, 50 yards) on a touchdown pass.

Woods contributed five tackles (2 sacks) on the defensive side of the football.

Chamblee takes the Region 1 No. 2 playoff spot into the playoffs.

Chapel Hill 38, Stone Mountain 8
The Chapel Hill Panthers (4-1, 2-1) are one win away from securing a No. 2 seed in the playoffs out of Region 3 following a 38-8 win over region foe Stone Mountain (0-5, 0-3).

Running back Tyreese Jones scored two touchdowns to lead the Panthers and quarterback Damarion Davis scored two more on the ground. Davis also connected with wide receiver Marquise Ealey for a 57-yard scoring pass play.

Chapel Hill faces Druid Hills (2-3, 1-2) on October 14 trying to prevent a three-way tie at second in the Region 3 standings.

Miller Grove 20, Druid Hills 14
The Miller Grove Wolverines (2-3, 2-2) kept playoff hopes alive with a 20-14 win over the Druid Hills Dragons (2-3, 1-2) on Saturday at Avondale Stadium.

The Wolverines defense forced four turnovers to aid the cause led by Robert Burnett causing two fumbles that were recovered by Noah Rosario and Jeremih Ivy. Tanario Simpson returned an interception 40 yards into the red zone to set up a score and Tony McKibben’s interception sealed the game in the fourth quarter.

McKibben ran for 100 yards and two touchdowns as a force on offense while Caleb Calhoun returned a kick for a touchdown to go with 50 yards receiving in the game.

Columbia 34, Redan 22
The Columbia Eagles (3-2, 1-2) moved closer to finishing the season with a winning record behind the play of Ayden Hiley in a 34-22 win over the Redan Raiders.

Hiley had an 83-yard touchdown reception and then added game-clinching punt return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter propel the Eagles to the victory. Delonte Stephens added two rushing touchdowns for Columbia. Josh Buggs had an interception and Tramious Rooks forced and recovered a fumble on defense for the Eagles.

Salem 14, Freedom 0
The Salem Lions (1-4, 1-2) knocked off the Freedom Rams (1-4, 0-3) 14-0 to pick up their first victory on the season on Saturday at Avondale Stadium.
