A big offensive showing coupled with a penetrating defense were keys to the Dunwoody Wildcats breaking a three-game skid against their rivals Chamblee Bulldogs with a 39-7 victory at North DeKalb Stadium on Friday to take back the Golden Spike Trophy.

Porter Allison (4 receptions, 46 yards, 2 TDs) pulled off a pair of big plays for touchdowns in the first half on passes from quarterback Matt Pearch to put the Wildcats up 13-0.

Allison caught a slant in the end zone from Pearch to put the Wildcats up 7-0 early. Then with 2:44 remaining he hauled in another pass from Pearch and broke a pair of tackles on the way into the end zone to make it 13-0.

Chamblee answered with an Ashton Bolston pass to Tristain Sizemore that went the distance to cut the lead to 13-7 at the half.

Luke Cole (14 tackles, 4 sacks, 5 TFL, 3 FC, 1 FR) made one of three fumble recoveries for the Wildcats following a Chamblee interception to stop a Dunwoody drive. Cole’s recovery set up the Wildcats at the Chamblee 14. Two plays later Malachi Cranshaw (19 carries, 111 yards, 3 TDs) punched it into the end zone to extend the lead to 19-7.

Pearch (26-15-1, 204 yards, 3 TDs) tossed his third touchdown of the game hitting Danny Boden in the flat and Boden took it the distance to up the lead to 25-7 with 5:34 to play in the third quarter.

Crenshaw added his second touchdown of the night with 9:12 to play on a five-yard run to up the Dunwoody advantage to 33-7. He would add his third touchdown following a Noble Butler fumble recovery for the final of 39-7.

Luke Phillips added to the big defensive night for Dunwoody with 10 tackles (1 sack, 2 TFL) as the Wildcats finished with 10 tackles for a loss, including six sacks.

Arabia Mountain 27, Stephenson 22
Two big fourth quarter defensive plays preserved a first ever victory for the Arabia Mountain Rams over the Stephenson Jaguars in a 27-22 win at Godfrey Stadium on Friday night.

Leading 20-16 Arabia Mountain’s Daniel Ndukwe came up with the first of the two big defensive plays with Stephenson driving for the go-ahead score and facing a fourth and 12. Ndukwe tipped a pass into the air, pulled it in for the interception and then raced 75 yards for a touchdown to put the Rams up 27-16.

The Jaguars scored to pull within 27-22 and then were marching into the Ram’s red zone facing another fourth-down play. Arabia Mountain’s Malcolm Snipes came up with a big fourth down tackle to end the drive and give the Rams the football to end the game.

Arabia jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the game on a pair of Julian Shanks touchdown passes. Shanks connected with Kenneth Hollinger on a 65-yard touchdown pass to make it 7-0. Following a big interception by McKaden Smith in the Stephenson red zone, Shanks hit Laron Jones for a 14-yard touchdown pass play.

Stephenson took a 16-13 lead with 1:34 remaining in the third quarter after trailing 13-8. The Rams answered when Shanks broke a pair of tackles and found Ndukwe to the touchdown to up 20-13.

Shanks finished 10 of 15 on the night passing with three touchdown passes and Kenneth Hollinger had three receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown. Daniel Ndukwe finished the night with a big game on both sides of the football with 5 solo tackles, 7 assists, a sack, a fumble caused, two tackles for loss and the pick-six while having two receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown on offense.

Kendall Brown added six total tackles and two tackles for a loss and Cedric Sellers added six total tackles including 1.5 sacks and two tackles for loss.

Arabia Mountain’s first ever program win over Stephenson broke the Jaguars nine-game streak against the Rams.

Lithonia 48, Landmark Christian 20
Freshman quarterback Caleb Hill put together a huge night in leading the Lithonia Bulldogs to their first win since the final regular season game in 2021 in a 48-20 road victory over Landmark Christian on Friday night.

Hill threw for 325 yards and five touchdowns on 14 of 23 passing and added a rushing touchdown on the night in an offense that has only two seniors with five sophomores and two freshmen.

Senior linebacker Jason Bond excelled on defense for the Bulldogs (1-2) with 23 total tackles including four for a loss and two forced fumbles.

Miller Grove 33, Douglass 28
The Miller Grove Wolverines held off the Douglass Astros for a 33-28 victory at Hallford Stadium on Thursday night to improve to 2-1 on the season.

Quarterback Amonte Harden accounted for 232 yards of offense and four touchdowns in leading the Wolverines to the win. Harden hit on six of 11 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown and added three touchdowns on the ground with 7 carries for 112 yards.

Ta’Jon Corbitt had another big night for the Wolverines with 24 carries for 110 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Keshawn Weathers had five receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown.

Lakeside 24, Forest Park 0
The Lakeside Vikings improved to 3-0 on the season as they pitched a shutout in a 24-0 road win over Forest Park at Tara Stadium on Thursday night.

Junior lineman Makhi Williams-Lee contributed to the shutout win with six solo tackles, three tackles for a loss, a fumble caused and a fumble recovery as the Vikings defense held Forest Park to just 20 yards of offense (all on the ground).

He also contributed on offense with three pancake blooks and a rush for nine yards as the Vikings offense led by Kyle Davis put up 24 points. Davis was 13 of 19 passing with one interception for 147 yards and two touchdowns and added 11 carries for 40 yards and a score on the ground. Roman Douthit had six receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown. Place kicker Jay Hanson was three-for-three on PATs and hit a 23-yard field goal.

Columbia 12, Washington 8
A big defensive effort by the Columbia Eagles (2-1) helped overcome three red zone turnovers to hold off the Washington Bulldogs for a 12-8 win on the road at Lakewood Stadium on Thursday night.

The defense led by Cain Jefferson (9 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks) and Edwin Moore (7 total tackles, 3.5 for a loss and 1 sack) racked up 12 tackles for a loss and three sacks in holding the Bulldogs to just eight points.

Other defenders with big nights include Jamontae Tukes (7 total tackles, 3 for loss), Demontae Tukes (3 tackles, 1 for a loss), Marrionto Perry (3 tackles, 1 for loss) and Charles Harris (9 total tackles).

The offense was led by running back Lamaze Williams who keyed the offense with big runs throughout the game to finish with 22 carries and 155 yards. Jaden Baugh added seven carries for 80 yards, three receptions for 50 yards and two touchdowns while collecting five tackles on defense.

Druid Hills 21, Berkmar 21
The Druid Hills Red Devils had to settle for a 21-21 tie as the Berkmar Patriots rallied in the second half despite a big night from quarterback Kai Robinson.

Robinson had his second consecutive three-touchdown passes in a game for the Red Devils (2-0-1) as he hit on 14 of 23 passes for 163 yards and one interception in the game. He connected with Brelon Cade (4 receptions, 62 yards), Akeem Cunningham (5 receptions, 52 yards) and Zion Johnson (1 reception, 18 yards).

Westlake 46, Cedar Grove 42
A late Cedar Grove pass went incomplete at the goal line as Class 7A No. 7 ranked Westlake Lions held on for a 46-42 win over the Class 3A No. 1 ranked Cedar Grove Saints on Friday at Westlake.

Cedar Grove (1-2) took a 41-40 lead on a 10-yard EJ Colson touchdown run with 1:41 to play only to have Westlake score to go back up 46-40.

McNair 28, North Clayton 21
The McNair Mustang defense came up big on several occasions including a fourth down stop late as McNair (2-1) upended North Clayton 28-21 at Southern Crescent Stadium on Friday night.

North Clayton had the momentum late driving to the McNair four-yard line when the Mustang defense stiffened to get the ball on downs.

The offense behind quarterback Jeremy Victory (3 touchdowns on the night) marched 96 yards to put the game away with Victor going the final eight yards for the touchdown.

Keyontae Phillips gave McNair the early momentum with a 66-yard interception return to the North Clayton one-yard line to set up McNair’s first score. Victor took it in for the touchdown.
