The Tucker Lady Tigers rallied from a 1-0 deficit in their three-set match for a 2-1 volleyball win over the Southwest DeKalb Lady Panthers in the final match of day at Tucker on Tuesday.

After dropping the opening set 25-17 to the Panthers, Tucker rebounded to win the second set 25-19 on the back of an 11-4 run after the set was tied 7-7. Tucker’s Santana Doan won five consecutive service points to make it 18-11.

Southwest broke the string, but back-to-back kills by Gabby Cole and Heather Eggleston made it 19-12. The Panthers rallied to within 18-20 on a pair of service winners by Amariah Bonham before a shot landed just out to give Tucker a 21-18 advantage.

Rai Apsana would serve out the match for Tucker for a 25-19 win to knot the match at 1-1.

Tucker opened an 8-5 lead behind a nice tap into the open court by Mya Sales and a kill by Gabby Cole on a nice assist from Tatum Henderson.

Southwest DeKalb rallied to pull even at 8-8 when Toni Bryant hit one hard off the hands of two Tucker blockers to score the point. The Panthers took a brief 9-8 lead, their only lead of the set, before Tucker went on a 3-0 run to go up 12-9.

Leading 12-10 Tucker got a nice put away by Eggleston and another from Karlie Downs off an assist from Tatum move to match point. Tucker got the next point as a pair of Panthers could not get the ball over the net giving the Tigers the win.

Both teams entered the match having lost their meetings with Meadowcreek. Tucker dropped a 25-13, 25-18 decision to the Mustangs while Southwest DeKalb fell 25-16 and 25-14.

Meadowcreek used a 15-0 run to end the opening set against Tucker and a 7-0 run in the second set to get the 2-0 win in the opening match of the day.

Southwest DeKalb was up by as much as four points in the opening set before Meadowcreek tied the match at 10-10 and went on a 10-0 run to take control in the 25-16 opening set victory. Meadowcreek was up 16-13 late in the second set before going on a 9-1 run to secure the match.
