Bradwell survived a barrage of Tucker shots to pull off a 1-0 upset of the No. 6 ranked Tigers at Adams Stadium on Tuesday night.

Tucker had 14 shots on goal in the first half, some at point blank range, but could not get one to find the net. Bradwell keeper Jedidiah Samuel played through an injury and had 10 saves in the game, eight in the first half.

Meanwhile, Bradwell (13-4-2) had just four shots and Tucker goalie Jadd Guazan had three saves as the two teams battled at 0-0 until the 17:28 mark of the first half.

Tucker was called for a penalty in the box and set Bradwell up with penalty kick. Jahdai Prince put the ball in the goal past a diving Guazan for what would be the winning goal and a 1-0 lead at the half.

The Tigers (11-5-4) did not get as many shots off in the second half but still outshot Bradwell 5-1 with Samuel picking up a pair of saves as Bradwell hung on to the one-goal lead.

Tucker began pressing and shot at the 7:50 mark provided the Tigers best chance at tying the game only to bounce off the right post and away.

Bradwell was able to get the ball out and eventually continue to take time off the clock with three big plays to put the ball out of bounds.

Chamblee 4, Greenbrier 1
In other Class 5A boys’ play, the Chamblee Bulldogs went on the road to No. 4 ranked Greenbrier and came away with a 4-1 upset to advance to the quarterfinals.

Four different Bulldogs got in on the scoring while keeper Julian Quirk and the defense limited a Wolfpack (15-3-0) offense that was averaging 4.4 goals per game in a 15-game win streak the Bulldogs broke.

Grant Polk, Mario Hernandez, Travis Conner and Daniel Chavez scored one goal each for Chamblee (7-8-2).

Chamblee moves on to face the winner of No. 2 ranked Dalton (16-2-0) and Chattahoochee (7-7-3) next Tuesday. The Bulldogs are making their first appearance in the state quarterfinals since their run to the state title in 2008.
