The Chamblee Bulldogs finished as the Class 4A-5A State runners-up last weekend at Georgia Tech.

Sophomore Ian Combs played a key role in leading the Chamblee Bulldogs to a runner-up finish in the GHSA Class 4A-5A State Swimming Championships at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center last weekend.

The Bulldogs finished with 233.50 points to come in second to Chattahoochee’s 282 and ahead of Northview’s 218.

Combs claimed a silver medal in the 100 backstroke (51.87) and a bronze in the 200 freestyle (1:42.93). He also was part of two bronze medal winning relay teams including the 200-medley relay (1:36.81) with junior teammates Jack Bolte, Dayon Harper and Jack McLellan and the 400-freestyle relay (3:17.13) with Harper, McLellan and junior Sam Johnson.

Druid Hills finished 23rd overall with 51 points led by Caleb Bauer who claimed ninth in the 100 butterfly (54.49).

Class 6A
The Dunwoody Wildcats led by a pair of gold medal finishes from sophomores Luke Sandberg and Luke Amerson came in sixth overall the Class 6A boys’ championship.

Amerson claimed gold in the 200-individual medley (1:53.84 and added a silver in the 100 backstroke (51.15) to lead the charge. Sandberg meanwhile grabbed the gold in the 200 freestyle (1:40.61) and a fourth-place finish in the 100 freestyle (46.49).

Dunwoody had a pair of gold medalists in Luke Amerson (200 IM) and Luke Sandberg (200 Freestyle) on the way to sixth place team finish in the Class 6A boys' State Swim Championships.

Dunwoody also picked up a fourth place in the 200-medley relay (1:36.73) including Amerson, Sandberg, Cameron Tutt and Lucas Wassdrop and a fifth place in the 400-freestyle relay (3:17.65) with Amerson, Sandberg, Wassdrop and James Mattison.

Lakeside finished just one point of the top 10 with 141 points led by senior Craig Steinhauer who picked up a bronze medal in the 50 freestyle (21.16) and a sixth place in the 100 freestyle (46.76). Steinhauer joined sophomore Elijah Peterson, junior Indiana Crawford and senior Ethan Collins to bring home a silver medal in the 200-free style.

Class 1A-3A
Redan finished 23rd overall in the Class 1A-3A boys’ standings behind the performance of junior Phillip Doyle at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center on Saturday.

Doyle swam to a seventh-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.66) and an eighth-place finish in the 50 freestyle (22.85) to score the points for the Raiders swim team.
