Middle School Basketball heading into holidays with just two undefeated teams remaining.

The Peachtree Lady Patriots and Chapel Hill Lady Panthers are the only remaining undefeated teams (boys or girls) as the middle school basketball season goes into the holiday break.

Peachtree improved to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in Region 1 with a convincing 38-8 victory over Tucker (3-5, 2-3) last Saturday. Jada McCord and Molly Kotzin each hit for 10 points in the game to lead the way. The Lady Patriots also knocked off Sequoyah (0-6, 0-3) 44-2 last Wednesday to complete the early winter schedule undefeated.

Chapel Hill rolled to wins of 62-3 over Bethune (5-2, 2-2) on Wednesday and 41-11 over Cedar Grove (6-2, 3-2) on Saturday to improve to 7-0 overall and 5-0 in Region 4.

The Renfroe Lady Bulldogs (6-1, 3-0) took over first place in Region 2 with a 29-22 win over previously undefeated Stephenson (6-1, 4-1) last Wednesday. Renfroe closed out the pre-holiday schedule with a 49-4 win over Sequoyah.

Stephenson bounced back to knock off Champion (5-3, 2-3) 30-28 to stay just one game back in the loss column behind Renfroe.

Freedom’s Moet Felton scored 18 points and Armani Joyner scored 4 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and blocked 5 shots to lead the Lady Rams to a 29-21 win over Redan (3-4, 3-2). Freedom improved to 2-6 overall and 2-3 in Region 3.

In boys’ action Cedar Grove remained atop the Region 4 standings with a thrilling 46-45 victory over region rival Chapel Hill (6-2, 5-0) to improve to 6-2 overall and 5-0 in the region. Jonah Huff hit the game-winning free throw with just seconds to play for the win. Huff finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds while Quinton Hall hit for 14 points and Xavier Matioshi added 10 points. The win gave Cedar Grove the season sweep and kept the Panthers from pulling even in region play.

The Renfroe Bulldogs matched their girls’ team with a big 56-45 win over the Stephenson Jaguars (5-2, 4-1) to improve to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the region. Renfroe headed into the break with a 56-7 victory over Region 1’s Sequoyah (0-6, 0-3).

Redan swept a pair of games in Region 3 play last week to remain atop the standings at 6-1 overall and 5-0 in the region. Redan knocked off Salem (2-6, 0-5) 65-41 behind the play of Croix Leduff (19 points), Gordon Eady (18 points) and Jalen Peterson (12 points). Leduff hit for 21 points and Christin Kennderly added 12 as Redan held off Freedom (3-5, 1-4) 52-50.

Druid Hills’ eighth grader Darrius Benton came up big twice for the Dragons (3-5, 2-2) in leading his team to back-to-back wins over Region 2 rival Stone Mountain (0-8, 0-5) last week. Benton hit for 25 points in a 51-22 victory on Wednesday and topped that performance with 39 points in a 51-45 win on Saturday.

All teams are off until after the holiday break. The games postponed from December 9 were moved to Thursday, January 4 to open the last half of the season.
