DeKalb is putting forth its best effort in softball with four teams in the Sweet 16 for the first time since the state playoffs went to the best-of-three series in 2009.

Arabia Mountain (23-4) is in the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive season having won their Region 5-5A title two years running and setting a new season record for wins with 23, breaking the 21 set a year ago.

The Lady Rams are the only team out of the four DCSD teams hosting in the second round as they take on Loganville (23-8) in Class 5A state playoff action with a doubleheader set to start at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 18.

Arabia Mountain swept Heritage last week to advance to the Sweet 16 led by three players hitting over .500. Senior Dyamond Brown leads the way hitting at .605 clip (10 RBI) followed by sophomore Myia Lewis (.556, 14 RBI) and Aleya Thornton (.553). Jalyn barker leads the way on the mound with a 7-1 record with 40 strikeouts and 16 walks.

The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs (22-5-1) swept Lithia Springs in the opening round and are coming off their first ever playoff series victory as they head to Carrollton on Wednesday for a doubleheader starting at 5:00 pm.

Senior pitchers Carlin Waddell and Erin Grimmesey have been tough on the mound for Chamblee as both are 8-1. Rachel Lovejoy leads the way at the plate hitting .553 with 21 RBI, 6 doubles and 2 homeruns. Waddell is hitting .535 and Grace Fazzone has 25 RBIs.

Miller Grove (16-6) is coming off their first ever playoff series victory with a road sweep of North Springs last week and head to Buford to take on the No. 1 ranked Lady Wolves (23-4) in a 4:00 pm doubleheader.

The Lady Wolverines are led by pitcher Deyounce Anderson (12-4, 1.44 ERA) who is hitting .500 with 27 RBI on the season. Janiah Canty has 31 RBI good for second in DeKalb County with 7 doubles.

Dunwoody (22-5) advanced in the Class 6A state playoffs with a road sweep of Apalachee to get their first playoff series victory. The Lady Wildcats go on the road again as they face Allatoona (23-6) in a 5:30 pm doubleheader.

Lindsey Puckett (.548, 11 RBI) and Walker Wicklund (.520, 13 RBI) lead the way at the plate for Dunwoody. Samantha Moss is 5-3 with a 2.07 ERA that includes 44 strikeouts and 10 walks.
