DeKalb County made up a meet postponed by the recent storm at Arabia Mountain High School as teams competed Tuesday in preparation for region competition next week.

Clarkston junior Rukundo Uwimana ran the best time of the season at Arabia Mountain clocking an 18:21.60 to capture the boys’ individual first place finish leading a group of six Angoras to finish in the Top 10.

The pack running produced a score of 19 points to outrun Tucker (49) to the team title. Martin Luther King Jr. was third with 74 points followed by Stephenson (124) and Redan (131).

Junior Mathurn Allawai was on Uwimana’s heels finishing just 2.8 seconds behind in 18:24.40. Clarkston juniors Ngabo Daniel (19:10.90) and Thomas Weldemichal (19:30.50) were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Junior Abdoul Tolo grabbed seventh in 19:42.10 with freshman Firomsa Ibrahim in eighth at 20:33.30.

Second place Tucker put a pair of runners in the Top 10 led by junior Abdilnur Tiroro in third in 18:33.30 and sophomore Bereket Adugna in sixth (19:40.70).

The Lions from M.L. King had Demetrius Carson in ninth (20:45.40) and Deonne Wragg in 10th with a time of 20:47.90.

Stephenson took the victory in the girls’ race by a score of 26-31 over Clarkston as both teams put four runners in the Top 10.

Sophomore Jordan Williams finished second overall in 28:45.40 to lead the Lady Jaguars. Sophomore Marisa Mayfield was fourth in 29:39.60 and junior Jennifer Lamour (29:39.80) was fifth. Junior Deanna Rawling (30:07.90) came in seventh for Stephenson to solidify the win.

Clarkston was led by junior Zyikeirra Robinson (29:05.40) who cross in third place to lead the Lady Angoras. Senior Tyniah Simmons (29:51.8) was sixth followed by junior Angel Wilson (30:21.60) in eighth and freshman Ala’Shanee Gaitor (30:59.50) in 10th.

Tucker picked up the individual girls’ title behind Gabrielle Williams who ran the 10th best time at Arabia Mountain with a 28:03.80 to win by 42 seconds.

The Lady Tigers also picked up another Top 10 finish as sophomore Luma Younis finished ninth with a time of 30:21.80.

Teams move on to region competition next week to determine state meet qualifiers in their respective classifications.
