DCSD Gamers League

Dates: June 3 – June 17, 2026 | Rising 6th – 9th Graders
Location: Fernbank Elementary School
8:30 am – 2:30 pm

Description: The DCSD Gamers League is an initiative focused on increasing scholars’ access to technology to prepare them for success in a digital world. This summer program provides students with the opportunity to work collaboratively to focus on building global competencies and computational thinking using Minecraft: Education Edition.

  • Level 1 scholars will research and work with scientists at Fernbank Science Center to design a virtual space in Minecraft.
  • Level 2 scholars will serve as junior mentors to the Level 1 scholars and work with community stakeholders on a special project. They were previously Level 1 scholars in the program.
  • Level 3 scholars will focus on entry level esports. They were previously Level 2 scholars in the program.
While learning may include interactive and engaging activities, scholars will be focused on meaningful academic instruction—not unstructured gaming.
