(STONE MOUNTAIN, GA)- DeKalb County School District (DCSD) seniors just rewrote the record books, earning $200,807,198 in college scholarships, which is up from $42 million last year. The milestone, announced by Superintendent Dr. Devon Q. Horton during graduation ceremonies last week at Georgia State University’s Convocation Center, marks a 378 percent year-over-year surge!
“We are incredibly proud of our DeKalb County Schools Class of 2025 graduates and their impressive scholarship earnings,” Dr. Horton said. “Their success shows what’s possible when adults create intentional systems that empower students to thrive. Being purposeful truly makes all the difference.”
Under Dr. Horton’s leadership, DCSD introduced the Post-Secondary P.U.S.H. Plan to increase college and career exploratory opportunities for all high school scholars this year. Through the P.U.S.H. Plan, the District intensified its focus on aligning curriculum with high academic standards and expanding post-secondary supports, including scholarship navigation workshops and one-on-one counseling.
This year, an incredible six DCSD schools surpassed the $10 million mark in scholarship offers, led by Chamblee High School ($27.7 million), Dunwoody High ($16.9 million), Lakeside High School ($16.6 million), and Arabia Mountain High ($14.9 million). The chart below shows each high school’s scholarship amounts as of May 27. These totals are continually increasing as more awards are added.
