High (9-12)

The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) is home to 22 high schools (grades 9–12), including traditional schools and five types of programs: International Baccalaureate (IB), magnet, and other specialized areas. These schools are staffed by highly skilled educators who bring both content expertise and real-world experience—contributing to the district’s record-high graduation rate in 2024.

DCSD high schools offer a comprehensive curriculum aligned with the Georgia Standards of Excellence, covering core subjects, fine arts, world languages, and Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE). Virtual courses are available through the district’s Flex Academy program. Students also have access to Advanced Placement (AP), dual enrollment, and STEM/STEAM programs. In addition, they may participate in a wide range of award-winning extracurricular activities, fine arts programs, and athletics.

To support student success, DCSD provides a robust range of services, including school counselors, nurses, exceptional education (formerly special education), gifted education, and English Language Learner (ELL) programs. The district’s ELEVATE and PUSH Post-Secondary Plan initiatives align with the Graduate Profile, ensuring that all students graduate with a clear plan for enlistment, enrollment, employment, or entrepreneurship. DCSD also prioritizes mental health and wellness through initiatives that promote a supportive and inclusive school climate. Additionally, free SAT preparation and testing are provided to juniors and seniors.

DCSD continues to invest in modernizing facilities and integrating technology-rich instructional tools that enhance teaching and learning. To address concerns about the impact of mobile devices on student focus and well-being, the district introduced the Disconnect to Reconnect initiative, encouraging students to take intentional breaks from phones during the school day. For school safety, DCSD employs School Resource Officers (SROs) and has implemented the EVOLV Express weapons detection system (in schools with grades 6–12), along with the Centegix Rapid Incident Response platform.

High schools in DCSD foster a welcoming and inclusive environment, offering numerous opportunities for family engagement through volunteer programs, school events, and other activities. The district maintains strong connections with parents and the community through school websites, newsletters, social media, and DSTV, keeping all stakeholders informed and engaged in student success.
