Coralwood School is dedicated to serving children with and without special needs between the ages of three and six. Enrollment is determined through a school choice lottery.
The International Screening Center serves DeKalb County School District (DCSD) students in grades 7–8. The center provides up to two years of intensive English instruction across all content areas to help students succeed academically and transition successfully to their neighborhood high schools.
The Early Learning Center reflects the district’s commitment to early learning. It serves 3- and 4-year-olds, with a focus on preparing children for kindergarten. The center addresses school readiness by accelerating cognitive and language development to close early learning gaps.
The Fernbank Science Center is a unique educational facility that integrates an urban forest, a planetarium, an observatory, and an exhibit hall. It offers science education programs for students in grades Pre-K through 12. The center features a 9,000-square-foot exhibit hall, a 500-seat planetarium, an observatory, two electron microscopes, a library, a distance learning studio, science laboratories, and a 65-acre forest. Its mission is to provide extraordinary science instruction, exhibits, opportunities, and experiences for DCSD students and the broader community.
The Georgia Network for Educational and Therapeutic Support (GNETS) is part of a continuum of services that support students with disabilities aged 5–21. In DCSD, GNETS services are provided through the Shadow Rock Center for students in grades K-5, and the Eagle Woods Academy for students in grades 6–12. These programs help ensure students are educated in the least restrictive environment appropriate to their needs.
The View Point Health Adolescent Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) in Decatur, provided through the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, offers short-term, medically monitored psychiatric and behavioral health services. The CSU supports adolescents experiencing a mental health crisis or requiring detoxification for substance use.
