Overview
DeKalb County School District is committed to increasing literacy outcomes for all students by implementing structured literacy practices that align to the science of reading and writing instruction. DCSD also supports teachers to ensure that they have the knowledge and skills needed. The Georgia Department of Education Literacy page contains background and updates on literacy policy and practice in Georgia, which are all important initiatives that will help guide DeKalb’s literacy journey over the next few years. The guide, Parent Resource: Supporting Your Child’s Reading Development, provides an overview.
