26 Pay Cycles: Predictable Payday
Beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, DeKalb County School District will transition from 24 pay cycles to 26 pay cycles, with employees receiving pay every other Wednesday.
This new pay cycle schedule creates a more predictable, employee-centered approach that supports easier budgeting, more consistent paydays, and faster payroll support when questions arise.
What’s Changing?
Starting in FY27, DCSD employees will move to a biweekly pay cycle with paychecks issued every other Wednesday.
Key Highlights
- 26 paychecks per year instead of 24
- Consistent Wednesday paydays
- Same annual salary
- More predictable payroll schedule
- Two months each year with three paychecks
- Faster payroll issue resolution during the workweek
Why DCSD Is Making This Change
Employees shared that the current pay cycle can be difficult to follow because paydays occur on different days each month. The new biweekly schedule provides greater consistency and transparency for employees and families.
The transition also helps newly hired employees receive their first paycheck sooner rather than waiting more than a month after beginning employment.
Important Reminder
Your annual salary is NOT changing.
Your pay will simply be distributed across 26 paychecks instead of 24, which means individual paychecks will be slightly smaller while total annual compensation remains exactly the same.
