Schools and Leadership

The Dekalb County School District’s Division of Schools and Leadership goal is to cultivate a district-wide culture of leadership excellence by equipping all school leaders with the necessary tools, frameworks, and support systems to lead schools that not only meet but exceed the expectations of student success, as defined by the Portrait of the Graduate. This will ensure that every scholar is prepared for future academic, career, and personal success, fostering a community of lifelong learners and responsible citizens. The Division of Schools and Leadership aims to see overall student success metrics increase, including academic achievement, graduation rates, and post-secondary readiness, by the end of every instructional school year.

The Division of Schools and Leadership is home to seven area teams, each comprised of an Area Superintendent, Executive Administrators, Culture and Climate Coordinators, Lead Content Coordinators, Special Education, English Learners, and Mental Health Coordinators. These teams focus their support on upholding the district and division’s vision and mission, ensuring excellence in instruction, safety, social and emotional well-being, and contributing to the success of every DCSD scholar and graduate.

Additionally, the Division includes two departments—Leadership and Professional Learning—that focus on the instructional development of teachers, as well as building leaders and instructional support staff. Both departments aim to meet the needs of all adult learners in the DeKalb County School District, ensuring that staff are continuously learning and growing so they can better support the success of 21st-century learners.
