“The Risk Management team handles the investigation, negotiation and resolution of school bus accident claims as well as all accidents involving the use of any District vehicle or truck. To assist with this process, template reports for completion, and return to Risk Management, are provided for Fleet Vehicle Accidents and Transportation Vehicle Accidents. Student accident claims are also forwarded to Risk Management for review. To assist with this process, a template Incident Report form is provided.
In addition, Risk Management handles requests from employees for coverage of lawsuits filed against them pursuant to Board of Education Policy EGD: Liability Insurance. Further, Risk Management is responsible for securing the Property Insurance Policies and other policies for the District. Student Accident Insurance, which is purchased by parents, is also made available by the team. The Workers’ Compensation team handles the investigation and resolution of claims involving injuries that arise out of and in the course of employment. To assist with this process, template reports for completion, and return to Risk Management, are provided. These include the Employee Accident Report and Authorization to Physician Form. In addition, this team implements best practices for the prevention of work injuries.
The team is also responsible for the updating of the Mandatory District Training Module, required by all employees, for reporting of workers’ compensation claims and prevention of work injuries.”
