The Division of Legal Affairs is dedicated to addressing the legal needs of the DeKalb County School District with efficiency and integrity. The division is structured into nine key areas: Employment Matters, Title IX, Contracts Administration, Student Relations, Exceptional Education, Risk Management, Workers Compensation, Open Records, and Real Estate and Transactions. In addition to managing these areas, the Division of Legal Affairs oversees outside legal counsel to ensure quality representation and adherence to established budgets. The division also provides legal training to district personnel and ensures compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, supporting the District’s mission through sound legal guidance and proactive risk management.
