Sequoyah Middle School

Engaging Diverse Communities

Welcome to Sequoyah Middle School, a thriving hub of diversity and community engagement. With a student population of approximately 1600, we proudly stand as the largest middle school in Dekalb County. Our school, situated in the heart of Buford Highway, boasts a special connection to the local community, with a significant number of students hailing from Central America. This diverse tapestry makes Sequoyah feel like home, fostering a warm and inclusive environment for our students. As a testament to our commitment to inclusivity, over 94% of our student body identifies as Hispanic, and English serves as a second language for 95% of our families. Partnering with organizations such as the Latin American Association, Sequoyah Middle School provides valuable resources, including after-school programs such as LYLA, a unique 'Big Brother' initiative, and a summer program facilitated by Friends of Buford Highway. Our dedicated Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) plays a pivotal role in our community, with parents actively volunteering, cooking, and sharing their rich cultural heritage. At Sequoyah Middle School, we pride ourselves on creating a welcoming space where every student can thrive, learn, and prepare for a bright future. Come join us in this exciting journey of education, culture, and community building!
