
The Towers Titans junior varsity wrestling team captured the 2025 DCSD Junior Varsity Wrestling County Championships title.
The Towers Titans had one more Top Four finisher to out-point the Southwest DeKalb Panthers 188.00 to 181.50 to capture the recent 2025 DeKalb County Junior Varsity Wrestling Championships title at Columbia High School.
Towers collected four gold medals, silver, one bronze and one fourth place on the way to the title. Leon Woods (3-0) picked up the gold in the 113 weight class by going 3-0 on the way to the title winning the championship match by pin fall over Stephenson’s Zakee Whited (2-1).
Caleb Derival (3-0) swept all three of his matches by pin fall in the 132 class for another Towers gold medal as he defeated Lithonia’s Charles Allison (3-1) in the finals.
Tyler Wooten (4-0) wrestled his way through four matches by pin fall including a win over Stone Mountain’s Abiazin Adam (2-1) in the gold medal match at 150.
Zamir Hooper (4-0) gave the Titans a fourth gold medal with four consecutive wins by pin fall including the gold medal round win over Columbia’s Mekhai Perkins (3-1).
Antwan Mathis (2-1) was the lone silver medalist for Towers finishing as the runner-up in 126 to Tucker’s Ahmad Khalid-Sultani (3-0) by pin fall. Jeff Thomas (4-1) wrestled his way to a bronze for the Titans with a decision over Stone Mountain’s Jaylon Anderson (4-2) at 215. Ian Pemberton’s (3-2) fourth place finish at 175 would provide the deciding points for the Titans.
The Panthers matched Towers with four gold medals in the event led by Jeremiah Davis (106) who won three matches including a 5-1 decision in the championship round against Druid Hills’ Linden Franklin (3-1).
Kamari Childs grabbed gold in the 120 class with a 3-0 mark with two pin falls and then a 22-6 technical fall victory over Chamblee’s Sergio Romero (3-1) in the gold medal match.
Camden Barnett (4-0) pinned Lithonia’s Omarion Earle (3-1) to sweep four matches on the way to the 144 class title. The final gold for the Panthers came at the 157 class as Calil Boozer (3-0) defeated Arabia Mountain’s Sirrod Robinson (3-1) by pin fall to go undefeated.
Southwest DeKalb’s Kani Elders (2-1) came up short against Stephenson’s Elijah Burson (3-0) who won by pin fall to take silver at 165.
Jabrier Hogan (4-1) picked up a bronze medal by winning the third place match with a 7-1 decision over Tucker’s Mohammad Sahim-Massomi (4-2).
Stephenson picked up a second gold medal in the championships from Jaydon Tometi (4-0) who swept the 285 class with four consecutive pin falls including the gold medal match against Lithonia’s Vashon Cobb (3-1) who won all three of his pervious matches by pin fall.
Julius Johnson (4-0) put Martin Luther King Jr. at the top of the medal stand as he captured the 138 title against Hudson Smith (3-1) of Druid Hills by pin fall. Johnson had two other pin falls and an 18-2 technical fall along the way.
Arabia Mountain collected a gold medal as Michael Ogungbade (4-0) defeated Towers Team 2 participant Josh Kent Bailey (3-1) via pin fall in the 175 class final.
The final gold medal went to Lithonia’s Josias Dore (4-0) put together four consecutive pin falls along the way at 215, including his title win over Columbia’s LaMarco Cassellberry (3-1).
