The Champion Chargers stretched their win streak to eight games while ending the Stephenson Jaguars at nine with a 39-30 middle school boys’ non-region basketball victory on Wednesday that also pinned Stephenson with its first loss of the season.

Kameron Lyles put up 14 points and Steven Lewis joined him in double figures with 10 points to lead the way for Champion (8-2). Aiden Clark contributed eight points in the win.

Stephenson’s Terry Coleman tied Lyles with the game-high 14 points for the Jaguars (9-1).

BOYS RECAPS
Druid Hills 44, Beacon Hill 33
The Druid Hills Dragon crossed over to play Region 2’s Beacon Hill Bulldogs on Wednesday coming away with a 44-33 win. Phillip Claybrooks struck for a game-high 23 points to lead the Dragons (8-2) to the win. The Bulldogs put two players in double figures in the loss with Hollis Rucker hitting for 16 points and Hugh Odlandt adding 11.

Cedar Grove 62, Columbia 15
The Cedar Grove Saints bounced back from a loss just before the holiday break to knock off the Columbia Eagles of Region 1 62-15 as they returned to action. The Saints (6-4) had three players hit in double figures led by Chase Thomas with a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double along with 10 points each from Camrin Gee (4 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 steals) and Jacob Hall. Zyon Freeman finished with nine rebounds, three steals and two assists to aid the cause.

Tucker 32, McNair 30
The Tucker Tigers notched their first win of the season with a hard-fought 32-30 victory over the McNair Mustangs (0-10) in non-region play on Wednesday. Taryce Carroll hit for 10 points and Devon Bishop pulled down 15 rebounds to lead the Tigers (1-9).

Peachtree 33, Chapel Hill 27
The Peachtree Patriots stepped out of Region 2 play to take on defending county champions Chapel Hill Panthers bringing home a big 33-27 victory to remain in a three-way tie atop the Region 2 standings. Kaiden Horton led the Patriots (8-2, 6-0) with 13 points and Atticus Ivy added nine points. Chapel Hill (6-4, 4-2) was led by Noah Kirkland with eight points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots.

Henderson 34, Stone Mountain 23
The Henderson Cougars matched wins with Region 2 co-leaders Peachtree and Champion with an impressive 34-23 win over the Stone Mountain Pirates (6-4). Jacob Miller led the way with 14 points for the Cougars (8-2) and teammate Zale Jackson added nine points.

Bethune 45, Lithonia 42
The Bethune Lions picked up a non-region 45-42 win over the Lithonia Bulldogs on Wednesday night. The Lions (6-4) got a huge game from Jordan Franklin as he put up 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for a double-double on the night. Montavious Washington added eight points, eight rebounds and eight steals. Jamaurie Evans collected an 18-point, 14-rebound double-double for the Bulldogs (2-8).

Redan 53, Salem 34
The Redan Raiders are riding an eight-game win streak and sitting in second place in Region 1 following a 53-34 non-region victory over the Salem Lions (1-9). Dalemontae McCallum went for a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead the Raiders (9-1). Benjamin Jackson (10 rebounds) and Jervontae Barber (3 assists) both contributed nine points in the win for Redan.

Chamblee 32, Freedom 26
The Chamblee Bulldogs stayed in the running for a spot in the postseason by knocking off the Freedom Rams (3-7) 32-26. Evan Kesser and Keegan Taylor both hit in double figures to lead the Bulldogs (5-5).

Miller Grove 57, Sequoyah 15
The Miller Grove Wolverines cruised to a 57-15 non-region win over the Sequoyah Braves on Wednesday. Graves hit for a game-high 23 points for the Wolverines (7-3). Sequoyah (0-10) was led by Corn with six points on the night.

GIRLS RECAPS
The Champion Lady Chargers continued their undefeated season with a convincing 41-19 home court win over the Stephenson Lady Jaguars on Wednesday in non-region play.

Madison Diggs (8 steals, 5 rebounds) and Rakiah Miller (8 steals, 8 rebounds) both hit for 14 points for Champion (10-0) in the victory. Noel McCrae added six points and four steals in the win. Ava Gilreath had a team-high nine points to lead Stephenson (4-6).

Beacon Hill 33, Druid Hills 31
The Beacon Hill Lady Bulldogs rallied from a two-point deficit with less than two minutes to play to earn a 33-31 non-region win over the Druid Hills Lady Dragons. Two steals by Leighellen Lucas in the final two minutes helped propel the Bulldogs (8-2) to the win after Druid Hills (4-6) had rallied via the three-point (3) in the fourth quarter to take the late lead. Stella Rucker led Beacon Hill with 12 points. Madison Evans hit for a game-high 14 points to lead Druid Hills and Makayla Bolden added seven points. Za’Kiya Wilcox contributed great defensive play for Druid Hills.

Henderson 12, Stone Mountain 4
The Henderson Lady Cougars (1-9) chalked up their first win of the season via a 12-4 home win over the Stone Mountain Lady Pirates. Mariah Jacks had two points for Stone Mountain (0-10).

Bethune 24, Lithonia 14
The Bethune Lady Lions remained one of four teams with one or less wins on the season as they charged past the Lithonia Lady Bulldogs 24-14 in non-region action. Ze’mire Jones hit for a game-high 12 points and Jalisa Kelly added eight points and nine rebounds to lead Bethune (9-1). Serenity Jackson hit for a team-high 10 points to lead Lithonia (4-6).

Tucker 24, McNair 18
The Tucker Lady Tigers improved to 4-6 on the season with a 24-18 home victory over the McNair Lady Mustangs (3-7). Selicia Edwards (7 points, 6 steals), Olivia Hoxie (5 points, 4 steals), and Kennedy Moon (8 steals) all played key roles in the win for Tucker.

Cedar Grove 44, Columbia 19
The Cedar Grove Lady Saints remained in a group of three teams with just one loss on the season with a 44-19 home court victory over the Columbia Lady Eagles (7-3). Jessica Morton led the way with an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double and Ziryah Bell (8 steals) added 16 points in the win for Cedar Grove (9-1).

Miller Grove 31, Sequoyah 18
The Miller Grove Lady Wolverines moved to 6-4 on the season with a 31-18 road win over the Sequoyah Lady Braves. Reynolds led Miller Grove with 12 points and H. Daniel had a game-high 14 points to lead Sequoyah (2-8).

Salem 41, Redan 7
The Salem Lady Lions upped their season mark to 7-3 by defending their home court with a 41-7 win over the Redan Lady Raiders. Mariah Jackson (5 steals) fueled the victory with a 16-point, 10-rebound performance and Kennedy Thompson (8 steals) joined her with 16 points. Beautiful Fuller was tough defensively collecting 10 steals for Salem. Nasiyah Wilson (3 points, 5 rebounds) and Simmia Thomas (2 points, 6 rebounds) led Redan.

Chapel Hill 38, Peachtree 1
The defending county champions Chapel Hill Lady Panthers improve to 9-1 on the season with a 38-1 road win over the Peachtree Lady Patriots. Reni Young had four rebounds and two blocks to lead Peachtree (3-7).

Chamblee 23, Freedom 7
The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs (6-4) stayed in the postseason hunt with a 23-7 home victory against the Freedom Lady Rams (2-8).
