Three boys and three girls DeKalb middle school basketball teams remain undefeated at 5-0 as they head into this weekend’s games with four games left before the holiday break.

Bethune, Cedar Grove and Champion girls’ teams are all 5-0 overall and 2-0 in region play as weekend games loom.

The Bethune Lady Lions kept their mark unblemished with a 34-23 Region 1 win over the Stephenson Lady Jaguars (2-3, 1-1) led by the play of Nai’lah Harris. Bethune is the only undefeated girls’ team in Region 1.

Cedar Grove and Champion are knotted atop the Region 2 girls’ standings following wins on Wednesday.

Champion used a balanced offensive attack to upend Lithonia 34-15 in a Region 2 matchup. Noel McCrae (9 points, 5 rebounds) and Kaylen Reynolds (9 points, 5 steals) tied for the scoring lead for the Lady Chargers. Rakiah Miller (8 points, 5 rebounds) and Madison Diggs (6 points, 7 steals) helped balance out the scoring. Lithonia was led by Serenity Jackson with a game-high 13 points.

Cedar Grove had three players in double figures in a 52-18 region win over the Sequoyah Lady Braves on Wednesday. Ziryah Bell had a 14-point, 10-steal double-double along with five assists to lead the Lady Saints. Melania Davis (12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals) and Conner Hall (11 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals) joined Bell in double figures.

GIRLS RECAPS
Columbia 50, Miller Grove 20
The Columbia Lady Eagles (3-2, 1-1) got a 20-point performance from Maliyah Elliot (4 assists, 3 rebounds) as they knocked off previously undefeated Miller Grove Lady Wolverines (4-1, 1-1) 50-20 in a Region 1 road contest. Mariona Williams (5 steals, 3 rebounds) added 16 points for Columbia in the win.

Redan 24, Freedom 17
A balanced effort on both sides of the court fueled a 24-17 Region 1 win by the Redan Lady Raiders (1-4, 1-1) over the Freedom Lady Rams. Team leaders with four points each were Naziyah Wilson (4 steals) and Abrya Reed-Ozier (6 steals, 2 assists). Freedom’s Fatuma Kasike lead all scores with a game-high nine points.

Druid Hills 42, McNair 20
The Druid Hills Lady Dragon (2-3, 2-0) moved into a tie for first in Region 1 by defeating the McNair Lady Mustangs (1-4, 0-2) 42-20. Madison Evans had a game-high 22 points for Druid Hills and was joined in double figures by teammate Saniya Wright with 10 points.

Peachtree 23, Tucker 16
The Peachtree Lady Patriots (2-3, 1-1) evened their Region 2 record with a 23-16 win over the Tucker Lady Tigers (2-3, 1-1) on Wednesday. London Whitfield hit for 12 points to lead Peachtree in the win.

Salem 42, Henderson 4
The Salem Lady Lions (3-2, 1-1) moved over .500 on the season and to 1-1 in Region 2 action with a 42-4 win over the Henderson Lady Cougars (0-5, 0-2). Kennedy Thompson scored a game-high 21 points for Salem and teammate Mariah Jackson added 10 points.

Beacon Hill 48, Chamblee 31
The Beacon Hill Lady Bulldogs (4-1) kept pace atop the Region 2 standings at 2-0 by running past the Chamblee Lady Bulldogs (2-2, 0-1) 32-16 on Wednesday. Lydia Robalard was the team’s leading scorer in the win.

Chapel Hill 52, Stone Mountain 1
The Chapel Hill Lady Panthers (4-1, 2-0) remained undefeated in Region 1 play with a 52-1 win over the Stone Mountain Lady Pirates (0-5, 0-2). Faith Andrew (6 assists, 4 steals) hit for a game-high 18 points to lead Chapel Hill while teammate Londyn Nolley (6 steals) had a 12-point, 13-rebound double-double. Elayjah King scored Stone Mountain’s only point of the game.

BOYS RECAPS
The Miller Grove Wolverines, Stephenson Jaguars and Druid Hills Dragons are the lone remaining undefeated boys’ teams after five games this season and are tied atop the Region 1 standings at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the region.

The Wolverines got a 20-point, 14-rebound double-double from Casey Graves in a 46-19 home victory over the Columbia Eagles (1-4, 0-2). Anthony Franklin came off the bench for Miller Grove to score six points to go with five rebounds and two steals.

Stephenson had two players score over 20 points as the Jaguars took down the previously undefeated Bethune Lions (4-1, 1-1) 62-37 to keep their undefeated mark intact. King Abrams hit for 26 points (8 rebounds, 4 assists) and Terry Coleman added 22 points (3 rebounds, 6 assists) to lead the way. Abrams scored 10 points in the first quarter and finished with four three-points. Jordan Franklin had a 20-point, 13-rebound double-double to lead the Lions.

The Druid Hills Dragons continued their win streak to open the season with a 36-23 win over the McNair Mustangs (0-5, 0-2) led by a 22-point effort from Phillip Claybrooks. Stephen Johns had seven points to lead the Mustangs.

OTHER RECAPS
Beacon Hill 48, Chamblee 31
The Beacon Hill Bulldogs (4-1, 2-0) improved their Region 2 leading record via a 48-31 win over the Chamblee Bulldogs (2-2, 0-1). Hollis Rucker led the way with 15 points (6 rebounds) while Hugh Ohlandt added nine points and James Duvall eight points.

Chapel Hill 42, Stone Mountain 36
The Chapel Hill Panthers (4-1, 2-0) came out victorious in a 42-36 battle with the Stone Mountain Pirates (2-3, 1-1) in a game that was tied 17-17 at the half. The defending county champs took control with some great defensive play and timely baskets in the third quarter building as much as a 12-point lead in the second. Stone Mountain rallied to get within six at the end of the game. Brysen Thomas (5 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals) lead the way with 10 points for the Panthers. Amari Stocks (5 rebounds, 2 steals) added nine points and Ashton Johnson (10 rebounds, 5 blocks) added eight points for the Panthers who are in a four-way tie for first in Region 1.

Henderson 48, Salem 36
Jacob Miller hit for a career high 20 points to lead the Henderson Cougars (3-2, 2-0) to a 48-36 Region 2 win over the Salem Lions (0-5, 0-2) to remain in a four-way tie for first place in the region standings. Zale Miller and Samir McLaughlin added seven points each for the Cougars who stretched their win streak to three.

Peachtree 49, Tucker 22
The Peachtree Patriots (3-2, 2-0) kept pace atop the Region 2 standings by picking up a 49-22 victory over the Tucker Tigers (0-5, 0-2) to set up a four-way tie in the region. Cody Krieger hit for a game-high 18 points and teammate Kaiden Horton added 14 in the win.

Cedar Grove 54, Sequoyah 20
The Cedar Grove Saints (2-3, 1-1) evened their Region 2 mark at 1-1 by taking down the Sequoyah Braves (0-5, 0-2) 54-20 on Wednesday. DeShawn Cabbagestalk had a big night as the put together an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double to go with four steals. Chase Thomas (7 rebounds, 2 steals) added nine points for the Saints. Kaiden Corn had 10 points and Amari Grant seven for the Braves.

Redan 51, Freeman 27
The Redan Raiders upped their season record to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in Region 1 via a 51-27 victory over the Freedom Rams (2-3, 0-2) on Wednesday. Dalemontae McCallum hit for a game-high 22 points to lead the way and Benjamin Jackson knocked down 12 points in the win.

Champion 57, Lithonia 25
The Champion Chargers (3-2, 2-0) cruised into a four-tie for first in Region 2 by defeating the Lithonia Bulldogs (0-4, 0-1) 57-25 on Wednesday night. Dillon Brown returned from an injury to lead the team with 16 points (7-10 shooting) and Devin Brown (4 rebounds, 2 assists) added 13 points in the victory.
