The Region 2 Boys All-Stars made it a sweep of the DCSD Middle School Basketball All-Star event with a 52-48 win over the Region 1 boys.

The Region 2 Boys All-Stars made it a sweep of the DCSD Middle School Basketball All-Star event with a 52-48 win over the Region 1 boys.

The Region 2 Boys’ All-Stars trailed 33-35 heading into the fourth quarter and doubled up on a Region 2 sweep of the All-Star games with another big fourth quarter rally for the 52-48 win.

Redan’s Tristan Mitchell drove the Region 1 team with 19 points over the first three quarters as his partners on the court held a 35-33 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The Region 2 team led by a pair of timely three-pointers from Chamblee’s Eston McDow and a good job of free throw shooting including 2-2 performances by Champion’s Jackson Ushery and Lithonia’s Caleb Cooper.

Region 1 managed just six points in the fourth quarter, four by Mitchell, as Region 2 rallied to take the win.

McDow finished with 12 points to lead Region 2 in the win as he hit four three-pointers in game to earn the Most Valuable Player Award. Ushery knocked down 10 points.

Mitchell finished with 23 points to lead Region 1 and Druid Hills Stone Richards added 12 points.

The two teams were tied at 25-25 at the half.
