The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs and Dunwoody Lady Wildcats fell in the Sweet 16 of their respective classes GHSA volleyball state playoffs to end the DeKalb high school volleyball season.

Chamblee (22-17) fell at home in a tough five set Class 5A loss to the Statesboro Blue Devils (23-11) on Saturday.

The Bulldogs won the opening set 25-17 to go up 1-0 before Statesboro battled back to even the match at 1-1 with an overtime 30-28 victory.

Chamblee responded with a 25-18 victory in the third set to go up 2-1. Statesboro bounced back again to take the fourth set 25-16 to even things up at 2-2.

Statesboro then took the tiebreaker set 15-11 to knock off the Bulldogs and advance to the Elite 8.

Chamblee senior Naa Adua Annan had an excellent match with 16 kills and 11 digs to aid the cause. Sophomore Natalie Tsai put up 37 assists in the match to go with 14 digs and six aces.

Houston Co. 3, Dunwoody 1
The Dunwoody Wildcats went on the road to Houston County for their Class 6A Sweet 16 match on Saturday and fell 3-1 to the Bears to conclude their season.

Houston County (27-12) opened the match with a 25-16 win to go up 1-0. Dunwoody (27-11) bounced back with a 25-20 victory to even things up.

The Bears took the next two sets 25-12 and 25-22 to close out the match and advance to the Elite 8.

Senior Caroline Vanke went out with a great last match with 10 kills, 8 digs, 2 blocks and 2 aces in her final match. Morgan Speice had 33 assists and 9 digs in her final match as well.
